Entrepreneurship Development Campus (IEDC), Desh Bhagat University in top universities in India and best university in Punjab organized ‘Progressive
Farmers Meet’ with a motive of “Promoting Sustainable Agriculture for Unnat
Bharat” for providing common platform to farmers and progressive farmers. University
Chancellor Dr. Zora Singh was the chief guest of this program and Dr. U.N. Roy,
head of Department of Rural Development (NITTTR) Chandigarh, Ms. Rossy Sambria,
deputy Project Director of Agriculture Technology Management Agency, Ludhiana
and Darshan Singh Babbi, Chairman of Punjab Agro Development Board were
eminently present on this occasion.
On this occasion,
IEDC Director Dr. Shalini Gupta welcomed all the guests and other dignitaries
and briefly explained the main purpose of this event. Entrepreneur farmers from
nearby villages participated in the event and shared their views and
experiences with experts and farmers. During his address, Dr. U.N. Roy
encouraged farmers to do organic farming and also informed about the harmful effects
of chemical fertilizers. At the end of program, University Chancellor Dr. Zora
Singh said that "We have to know the difference between natural
agriculture and chemical farming". He said that the main objective of this
event was to motivate more and more farmers to get involved with natural
agriculture. On this occasion, Pro Chancellor Dr. Tejinder Kaur, Vice
Chancellor Dr. Virender Singh and Pro Vice Chancellor Dr. Vimal Sikri were also
present.
