Students Show Skills In Tech Manthan-2017 Programme At Desh Bhagat University

Desh Bhagat University Faculty of Computer Science & Applications organised a technical event Tech- Manthan-2017. A large number of students from MCA, M.Sc. (IT), PGDCA, B.Sc. (IT) and BCA classes actively participated in it and showcased their talent.

Giving details of the event, university Pro-Chancellor Dr. Tajinder Kaur informed that the event was aimed at acquainting the students with latest trends and technology of computer applications and to engage them to the largest possible extent for the development of different computer programmes. She said that the week-long event was divided into two streams namely: technical events and non-technical events. The technical competitions included Debugging, Website development, IT-Quiz, Typing Test and Presentations of topic based projects etc. Non technical events comprised, Rangoli , Model Making and cultural events like singing, mimicry etc. The main attraction of the event was A Role Play based on ATM System. The whole event was truly liked by one and all. The winners of different events were honoured by the university officials.

University Chancellor Dr. Zora Singh congratulated the students and appreciated their efforts in making the technical concepts so easy to understand. He emphasized that in order to get good placements in IT industry, the students should have strong practical knowledge and this is possible only through live projects.
Vice-Chancellor Dr. Virinder Singh and Pro Vice-Chancellor Dr. Neelima Jerath felicitated the staff and students and hoped that the programme will enhance their practical knowledge of this field. Directors and HoD's of different faculties were also present on the occasion.

Desh Bhagat University Organises Technical Event ‘TECH-MANTHAN’

Desh Bhagat University Faculty of Best B.Sc. Computer Science College in Punjab organised a technical event Tech- Manthan. A large number of students from MCA, M.Sc. (IT), PGDCA, B. Sc. (IT) and BCA classes actively participated in it and showcased their talent.


Giving details of the event, university Pro-Chancellor Ms. Tajinder Kaur stated that the event was aimed at acquainting the students with latest trends and technology of computer applications and to engage them to the largest possible extent for the development of different computer programmes. She informed that the three days long event was divided into two streams namely: technical events and non-technical events. The technical competitions included Debugging, Software Development, Website development, IT-Quiz, Typing Test and Presentations of topic based projects etc. Non technical events comprised, Face Painting, Rangoli, Mehandi, Poster Making, Test Your Skills in C and Geeks (Employ ability Test) etc. Students also participated in Bhangra, Giddha, Singing, Mimicry and Short play competitions.




The main attraction of the event was presentations of technical plays namely, Oh Chala Gya (He has gone), A Role Play on Stack and A Role Play on Bubble Sort Technique. The whole event was truly liked by one and all. The winners of different events were honoured by the university officials.



University Chancellor Dr. Zora Singh congratulated the students and appreciated their efforts in making the technical concepts so easy to understand. He emphasized that in order to get good placements in IT industry, the students should have strong practical knowledge and this is possible only through live projects. Vice Chancellor Dr. Virinder Singh felicitated the staff and students and hoped that the programme will enhance their practical knowledge of this field.

Desh Bhagat University Organises Workshop On Artificial Intellignce For Computer Science Students

Desh Bhagat University Training and Placement Department organised a Technical Workshop for IT students. The workshop was aimed at acquainting the students with latest trends and technology of computer applications. A large number of students from MCA, M.Sc. (IT), PGDCA, B. Tech (CSE) , B.Sc. and BCA classes actively took participate.Giving details, Pro Chancellor Ms. Tajinder Kaur stated that from new session the university has started especial programmes on Industry-Academia Interface for the students. She briefed that the expert team which visited the university was headed by Mr. Manu Chopra Guest Faculty (Stanford University, California). Manu Chopra has expertise in Artificial Intelligence field. He invented and subsequently patented an anti-molestation device for women as an answer to rape cases in India for which he was honoured by the Indian President Dr. A.P.J Abdul Kalam.



While interacting with the students Manu Chopra motivated them to explore their ideas, Note them down and expand them. He said it’s only technology and the unique ideas that can produce big results so focus on them and make thinking as one of their free time activity. He exhorted the students to be an entrepreneurs rather than to be an employees.Mr. Himanshu Batra (Founder & CEO @ AcadView) while interacted with the students he emphasized that in order to get good placements in IT industry, the students should have strong practical knowledge and this is possible only through live projects.


During the workshop, the information session was followed up by various queries put forward by students to which the learned speakers aptly replied which further enhanced the knowledge of students. A small test to assess the knowledge of students was also a part of this workshop. The students were quite happy to attend these programmes and declared that it was very informative. They thanked the university authorities for arranging such a knowledgeable workshop and said that it has added to their knowledge about several important things about the latest techniques and technology.


University Chancellor, Dr. Zora Singh expressed the view that such events are very useful for students and help them in their multi-functional growth. He appreciated the initiative taken by Training and Placement Department. At the end of the workshop, university Vice-Chancellor Dr. Varinder Singh thanked the learned team and expected that it will prove quite useful for the students and faculty members.

Desh Bhagat Students Tops In The University Examination

Students of MCA of Desh Bhagat Institute of Management & Computer Sciences have brought glory to the institution by winning two out of the top five positions in the Examination held in May 2015 conducted by Punjabi University, Patiala.



Damanpreet Kaur , a student of MCA (Master of Computer Applications) Semester - 6th of Desh BhagatInstitute of Management & Computer Sciences has stood First in the Merit list by securing  2956/3400 marks in the examination. While congratulating and honouring the meritorious student with a memento, Chairman Desh Bhagat United and Chancellor Desh Bhagat University Dr. Zora Singh disclosed that Damanpreet Kaur has brought glory to the institution by topping in the university securing 86.94% marks. Another student Manpreet Kaur also got place in the meritorious category. She stood fifth in the Merit List by securing 2920/3400 marks and we are proud on them, he added.


 While congratulating both the students on their achievement, Vice Chairperson Desh Bhagat United Ms. Tajinder Kaur and Vice Chancellor Dr. Virinder Singh said that it is the result of her hard work and the able guidance given by their teachers. They also congratulated the entire staff for their dedication and commitment to duty. The student, Damanpreet Kaur who was in a jubilant   mood gives the complete credit for her glorious success to her highly committed teachers, state-of-the-art infrastructure and congenial academic atmosphere in the institute. It's worth mentioning that Damanpreet Kaur had topped in her class during the last five Semesters also. She has also been taking an active part in different academic and co-curricular activities undertaken in the institute from time to time.

A Guest Lecture On Interviewing Skills And Career Counseling At Desh Bhagat University In The Best University In Punjab

In the best university in Punjab and in the top universities in India, Desh Bhagat University Organized a guest lecture on ‘Interviewing Skills, Career Counseling and Personality Improvement’ for the students of Management, Computer Science and Commerce classes. The program was arranged by the Training and Placement Department of the university. The learned speaker on this occasion was Mr. Prince Kalia, Manager-HR, IDS Infotech Ltd., Chandigarh.



While addressing the students, Mr. Kalia exhorted them to set a mission in their life, plan strategy to achieve that and take lessons from all their failures. The learned speaker said that success always walks with everyone but due to circumstances, lack of vision and management techniques, it seems elusive. He said that First Impression is the last impression and you will not get another chance to prove yourself so be polite, confident and active at the time of interview. For an interviewee Art of self-presentation, Body language, Effective Communication, and Way of Dressing also matter. 



In his two hours power-packed lecture, he discussed several points like Team Work, Spirit and Self Confidence, etc. and shared his views regarding how to overcome obstacles and how to achieve success. The students evinced a keen interest in the lecture and during the interaction session, they asked relevant questions on different topics which the learned speaker answered to their entire satisfaction. The students were quite happy to attend this lecture and said the views expressed by the speaker have boosted their morale to do big in life.
University Chancellor Dr. Zora Singh and Pro-Chancellor Ms. Tajinder Kaur expressed their happiness and said that such events are very useful for students and this will help in their multi-functional growth.  At the end of the program, Vice Chancellor Dr. Virinder Singh thanked the learned speaker for sparing his valuable time for the students and hoped that it will prove quite useful for them.

Desh Bhagat University Students Celebrate 'esparanza-14'

Desh Bhagat University Faculty of Engineering & Technology and ACE Club organised an annual technical cum cultural event 'Esparanza-14'. The objective of this progrmme was to bring out the hidden talents of the students, channelise their energies, make them aware of the social evils and highlight the rich Punjabi Culture.


More than 800 students from various disciplines of M.Tech, MCA, B.Tech, BCA, M.Sc., B.Sc. (IT) and diploma classes took part in this event. The programe was inaugurated by Chancellor of the University, Dr. Zora Singh and Pro Chancellor Tejinder Kaur. While welcoming the students who are joining Desh Bhagat University for the first time, inspired them to work hard and purse their studies with full commitment and dedication. Addressing the students, Vice Chancellor, Dr. Shalini Gupta said that Desh Bhagat University is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities of education and training and by making best use of these facilities they can achieve any heights in life. The 'Esparanza-14' event was divided into two streams namely: technical events and non-technical events. The technical competitions included, Break the code, Paper Presentation, Quiz, Match Mania, Project Display, Poster Making and Web Designing. Non technical events comprised LAN Gaming, Face Painting, Rangoli, Mehandi, Poster Making etc. Students also participated in Bhangra, Giddha, Singing, Mimicry and Short play competitions. The fashion event Glamour-ACE was the main attraction of the event. Students presented their own creations on the ramp. The highlight of the event was 'Kaun Banega Aaj ka Engineer' played on the line of the serial KBC. That was truly liked by one and all. The event was a treat for all was highly appreciated. The winners of these events were honoured by the university officials. Director Faculty of Engineering and Technology, Dr. P.S. Cheema appreciated the performance of the students and thanked all the guests. On this occasion, Controller Examination Dr. I.S. Sethi, Registrar Dr. Virinder Singh and directors of different university faculties were also present.


Desh Bhagat Institute Of Management And Computer Sciences Organises Inter College Kho Kho Tournament

Desh Bhagat Institute of Management and Computer Sciences organised a three-day Inter College Kho-Kho Tournament (Girls) of Punjabi University, Patiala. A total of 11 teams of girls, from different colleges participated in this tournament. Chairman of Desh Bhagat Group of Institutes and Chancellor of Desh Bhagat University Dr. Zora Singh and Vice Chairperson of Desh Bhagat Group of Institutes and Pro Chancellor Desh Bhagat University Ms. Tejinder Kaur inaugurated the final day event and said that games and sports are an essential part of our life and these have educational as well as recreational value.


While presiding over the Prize Distribution function, they patted the backs of all the players for their excellent performance. Speaking on the occasion, Vice- Chancellor of Desh Bhagat University Dr. Shalini Gupta said that Kho Kho is one of the oldest games of our country and is still being played in several parts of the country. To promote and revive such traditional games there is a great need of Kho Kho league like Football and Kabaddi leagues. She appreciated all the teams for their excellent performance. The final matches of the tournament were particularly thrilling and breath-taking and players were struggling hard for even a single point. The result of the tournament was as under: 1. Desh Bhagat College, Dhuri (First Position) 2. Govt. College for Physical Education, Patiala ( Second Position) 3. University College, Moonak (Third Position) The Tournament was a source of great education and entertainment for the students and staff of the different colleges. All the players and coaches of the teams appreciated the arrangements made by the host institute. The members of Kho Kho official committee sent by Punjabi University were also honoured for their services during the tournament.

Campus Placement Drive At Desh Bhagat University

Training and Placement Cell of Desh Bhagat University organised a Joint Campus Placement Drive with Techi-Technology Pvt. Ltd., one of the leading IT Companies in India. The Company offers services such as Web and Mobile Application Development Services, Web Design & Re-design Services, Search Engine Optimization Services and many more.



This drive was for the MCA & B. Tech (CSE/IT) students from the Faculty of Computer Science & Applications and Faculty of Engineering & Technology. During the Placement Drive, students were shortlisted through Written Test, Group Discussions & Personal Interview by company officials. After these rigorous rounds, the company selected 3 candidates for different positions such as Management Trainees, Software & Business Associates for their Mohali Location office.


University Vice-Chancellor Dr. Shalini congratulated the selected students. While giving information about this placement drive, she said that the company will provide 6 months Industrial Training to the selected candidates in which it will pay them stipend after 3 months according to the students’ performance. The university has tie-ups with a number of national and international companies for training and placement of its students. The students are given practical exposure through frequent industrial visits and industry academia interface, she added. University Chancellor Dr. Zora Singh and Pro Chancellor Tejinder Kaur wished the students a bright future and advised them to work with full dedication and prove an asset for the organization in which they are getting jobs. In The Best University in Punjab Desh Bhagat University Organises Technical Event In Collaboration With Mozilla

In the best university in Punjab and in top universities in India, Desh Bhagat University Training and Placement Department organized a contributory engagement program -‘Contribution Pathway Punjab-2015’’ in collaboration with Mozilla India in the campus. A large number of students from MCA, M.Sc. (IT), PGDCA, B. Sc, BCA and other classes from the campus and from different colleges and universities e.g. the Central University of Haryana, Bikram College, Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Engineering College & others colleges & universities actively participated. The workshop was aimed at acquainting the students with the latest trends and technology of computer applications and to engage more and more contributors to the Mozilla project for the development of apps in Mozilla Firefox.


Giving details of the event, Pro-Chancellor Tejinder Kaur stated that the expert team from Mozilla, which came to the university was headed by Mr. Mrinal Jain and Mr. Sumantro Mukherjee. The team interacted with the students & briefed them regarding App development, Real World Applications, and other latest Technologies.  The event provides a platform of opportunity to the fresher’s in technical and non- technical fields and about how they can work with MDN and can be a Web Literate. The program had two parallel sessions on Firefox OS Hand on Labs and Webmaker for the advanced and intermediate participants. The event was a great success as it was open for all technical and non-technical profile persons. Students from non-technical backgrounds also showed the zeal to learn application developments. Both the sessions were quite interesting and interactive.

The team interacted with the students & briefed them regarding Big Data Analysis, Tools – Hadoop, Sentiment Analysis, Real World Applications, and other latest Technologies.
The expert team including Sajjad Hussain, Gaurav Verma and Bipin Koli (All Research Analyst) conducted a Workshop on Python Language also and taught the students about its importance in today’s hi-tech era.

Farewell Party For MCA Students At Desh Bhagat University In The Best MCA Colleges In India

In the best MCA colleges in India and in the best university in Punjab, Desh Bhagat University organised a Farewell Party for MCA final year students with great fervour and joy. All the students of MCA - I did their best to make this event a memorable one. A cultural programme was arranged on this occasion, in which students performed Singing, Mono Acting, Mimicry, Bhangra, Gidha, Group Dance and Choreography etc. The main attraction of the party was quiz show and fun games round. To add more fun to the celebration, the outgoing students' precise commentary on their personalities were also enacted by their juniors as a token of love and affection. After diverse rounds of games and performance, Urvashi Gupta won the title of 'Miss Farewell' and Deepak Kumar was chosen as 'Mr. Farewell'. In another title, Sandeep Kaur won the Miss Personality and Parmodh Batra got Mr. Personality title. The party was highly enjoyed and appreciated by the students.

University Chancellor, Dr. Zora Singh conveyed his best wishes to the students and emphasized that they should work hard for being successful in their future careers and for the progress of society. University Pro Chancellor Tejinder Kaur and Vice –Chancellor wished the students good luck & all success in life and inspired them to be responsible citizens. Eight Students Of Desh Bhagat University In The Best University In Punjab Selected In Wipro



Eight students of MCA Final year of Desh Bhagat University in the best mca college in Chandigarh and in the best university in Punjab, Faculty of Computer Science and Applications have brought glory to the institution by getting selection in well-known software company Wipro. The university students namely Dilawar Singh, Heena Thakur, Deepak Kumar, Sumeet Kumar, Kamal Kapoor, Sarabjeet Kaur, Jatinder Singh, and Hardeep Kaur have been selected in Wipro Technologies. The company selected these students through Joint Campus Placement drive which was held at Baddi University. The selection process consisted of an online test, presentations by the company representatives followed by group discussion & personal interviews. After rigorous rounds of selection, Wipro selected 8 students for the posts of ‘Management Trainees’ for NCR location.

While congratulating all the selected students, university Chancellor Dr. Zora Singh and Pro-Chancellor Tejinder Kaur said that they are proud of them and encouraged the students to work with full dedication. They also appreciated the staff for their dedication and commitment to duty.
Vice Chancellor Dr. Shalini Gupta and Pro Vice-Chancellor Dr. Shantnu Chatterjee have also congratulated the selected students and said that it is the result of the able guidance and hard work done by Training and Placement Department of the university, teachers as well as the students. 14 Students Of Desh Bhagat University In The Best University In Punjab Selected In Campus Placement Drive

Training and Placement Cell of Desh Bhagat University in the best university in Punjab and in the top universities in India organized a Joint Campus Placement Drive with Logitech Technologies Private Limited, a well reputed IT Company & BPO in India. This drive was for the B. Tech (CSE/IT/ECE/ME/CE streams) students. During the Placement Drive, students were shortlisted through Written Test, Group Discussions & Personal Interview by company officials. After rigorous rounds, the company selected 14 Candidates. University Vice-Chancellor Dr. Shalini Gupta while giving details about the placement drive said that these selected students will get a package of Rs. 2.4 Lacs to 1.8 Lacs per annum and the company will deploy them for different positions such as Management Trainees, Team Leader Associates, etc. at different Locations in Punjab.
