A unique initiative to raise funds for the education of girls
In top universities in India and best university in Punjab, Desh Bhagat University organized 'Corporate Cricket League Season 2', a fund raiser to promote girl child education and sports. Dr. Sandeep Singh, Vice President Desh Bhagat University attended the event as the chief guest along with Mr. Hardev Singh, Advisor to Chancellor Desh Bhagat University.

The final match played between ‘ASRS Red Backs’ and ‘Cricket Lovers’ was full of enthusiasm. Red Backs team won by 45 runs. It is worth mentioning that the winning team was given a reward of Rs. 50,000 and Rs. 30,000 for the runner up team. Man of the Series was Mr. Umesh Khaira, Batsman of the Series was Mr. Michael Vishal, Bowler of the Series was Mr. Aniket In the final address Dr. Sandeep Singh said that our society can go to great heights with educated women who lead not only our nation but their families with through their education, it is important that we educate our daughters as much as possible opening doors to making them skillful and competent so that they can rise beyond their abilities.

Best university in Punjab and in top universities in India Desh Bhagat University student Pardeep Singh has brought glory to the institution by winning Gold Medal in a Punjab State Wrestling Championship.This was disclosed by DBU Chancellor Dr. Zora Singh. While felicitating the student, he said that Pardeep Singh proved his worth during a very tough competition. He is our Shining Star and a role model for other students. Dr. Singh expressed the view that games and sports are an integral part of our education and to promote the same among students, Desh Bhagat University provides all types of incentives and facilities to the outstanding players.

University Pro-Chancellor Dr. Tajinder Kaur and Vice-Chancellor Dr. Virinder Singh while congratulating the student over the achievement said that university gives full importance not only to research, innovation and other scholastic activities but also to sports and other co-curricular activities. Pardeep Singh said that the competition was really tough but to reach in final was like a dream comes true. He gave whole credit for her achievement to the sports facilities available in the university and the able guidance of his coaches. Now he is going to National Wrestling Championship to be held at Siridi, Ahmadnagar Maharastra.

Best university in Punjab Desh Bhagat University Celebrates National Sports Day


Best university in Punjab and in the top universities in IndiaDesh Bhagat University celebrates National Sports day. National sports day is celebrated on the occasion of birth anniversary of Major Dhyaan Chand (Hockey Olympian). On National Sports Day Government of India launched FIT INDIA movement.

Early morning Desh Bhagat University organized 6 km cycling drive. Around 300 students and staff members were participated in it. Later on a program was organized to make a pledge remain fit and contribute to nation’s development. The program inaugurated by University Chancellor Dr.Zora Singh and Pro Chancellor Dr. Tejinder Kaur. All students and staff members participated in this program and listen PM Modi’s speech regarding FIT INDIA movement. All students and staff members pledge to remain fit and will participate in sports.

University Chancellor Dr. Zora Singh informed that on the eve of Fit India Movement, Desh Bhagat University is going to launch smart bicycle for the fitness of staff and students. Smart bicycle is equipped with GPS and burning calorie app meter. The burning calorie app meter is based on number of bicycle rotation while GPS guides and provides security to bicycle users.   

Vice-Chancellor Dr. Virinder Singh said that sports make us strong internally as well as externally. University provides all facilities to students to take part in FIT INDIA movement.

In Best University In Punjab Desh Bhagat University Student Won Bronze Medal In National Power Lifting Championship

In best university in Punjab, Desh Bhagat University Faculty of Engineering student Balkar Singh has brought glory not only to the institution but to the state of Punjab by winning Bronze Medal in National Level Power Lifting Competition. Balkar Singh won Bronze Medal in two games of power lifting (bench press and squat) during the National Power Lifting Championship held recently at Chhattisgarh.

This was disclosed by DBU Chancellor Dr. Zora Singh. While felicitating the student, he said that Balkar Singh proved his worth during a very tough competition in 84 kg Weight category. He is our Shining Star and a role model for other students. He has proved that hard work and dedication always bear fruit, he added. Dr. Singh expressed the view that games and sports are an integral part of our education and to promote the same among students, Desh Bhagat University provides all types of incentives and facilities to the outstanding players.

In Top Universities in India, Desh Bhagat University Student Wins Gold Medal In International Boxing (Women) Championship

In best university in Punjab, Desh Bhagat University Faculty of Education student Prabhjot Kaur has brought glory to the institution by winning Gold Medal in a renowned Boxing Competition. Prabhjot won her Gold Medal during the Indo-Nepal Boxing Championship held recently at Nepal. This was disclosed by DBU Chancellor Dr. Zora Singh. While felicitating the student, he said that Prabhjot Kaur proved her worth during a very tough competition in 69-75 Kg weight category. She is our Shining Star and a role model for other students. She had also won a Gold Medal in a national level event at Mumbai in the month of May this year. In Best University in Punjab, Desh Bhagat University’s 5th Annual Athletic Meet

In best university in Punjab and North India, Desh Bhagat University organised its 5th Annual Athletic Meet with great fervour. The meet began with hoisting the university flag by the Chancellor Dr. Zora Singh. He inspired the students by emphasizing that participation is more important in sports than victory or defeat.


Arjuna Awardee Athlete Madhuri A. Singh joined as chief guest on inaugural ceremony. While motivating the youths about games she exhorted them to play games and make games regular part of their life and keep away from all kinds of drugs.


During the Athletic meet, individual and team competitions among students of various faculties were held. These competitions included: Races of 3000, 1500, 400, 200, 100 Meters,  Shot-put,  Javelin,  Discus Throw,  High Jump and Long Jump etc.



Ravinder Singh (Faculty of Education) was declared best Athlete among boys and Divya Saini (Faculty of Ayurveda) was declared best Athlete among girls.



Pro Chancellor Dr. Tajinder Kaur and Vice-chancellor Dr. Virinder Singh presided over the valedictory function and gave away the prizes to the winners. They appreciated the sports talent of the students. On this occasion, Registrar Dr. Kulbhushan, Dental College Principal Dr. Manish Kumar, Dr. Sanjiv Soni, staff members and large number of students from different faculties were present.


Results of different events were as under:










In Girls Category, 800 Mtrs. Race : Manpreet Kaur (Faculty of Education) got first position and Tarandeep Kaur (Dental College) stood second.
In 400 Mtrs. Race: Himani (Dental College) declared First and Harmandeep Kaur (Faculty of Education) got Second. In 100 Mtrs. Race : Paramjeet Kaur (B.P.T) got First and Rajwinder Kaur (Faculty of Education) got second place. In Javelin Throw: Parminder Kaur (Faculty of Education) stood First; Usha Rani (Faculty of Education) got second position.

In Boys Category, 3000 Mtrs Race: Amandeep Singh (Faculty of Education) stood first while Pardeep Kumar (Faculty of Engineering) stood second. 1500 Mtrs Race: Amandeep Singh (Faculty of Education) stood first while Jashanpreet Singh (Faculty of Education) stood second. 800 Mtrs Race: Amandeep Singh (Faculty of Education) stood first while Yograj Singh (Faculty of Education) stood second. In Discuss Throw: Lakhvinder Singh (Faculty of Engineering) got first, while Gurkaran (Faculty of Law) stood second.

A Guest Lecture on Narcotics and Drugs at Desh Bhagat University, Best University in Punjab

In best university in Punjab, Desh Bhagat University’s Bhai Kanhaiya Ji NSS Department in association with Punjab Police, District Fatehgarh Sahib organised a guest lecture on the evil of Narcotics and Drugs. A large number of students and staff members from different faculties attended it.


While giving details, Pro chancellor Dr. Tajinder Kaur said that the event was arranged to create awareness against Drug Abuse among youth under the state Government’s DAPO (Drug Abuse Prevention Officer) scheme. S. Jaspreet Singh, IAS (SDM, Amloh) and Manpreet Singh DSP, Amloh were the key note speakers on the occasion. Vice Chancellor Dr. Virinder Singh welcomed all the guests and the audience.


While interacting with the students, SDM S. Jaspreet Singh, IAS said that Drug addiction is a dark spot on the image of state of Punjab, we have to adopt a firm stand against all kinds of drugs, so that we may protect and save our holy state. He exhorted the students to keep away from all kinds of drugs and come forward to vanish this menace from the society.


DSP Manpreet Singh said that Drugs is the major reason behind most of the crimes and youth are more vulnerable in the society. We have to keep highly aware our students against drugs from the very beginning so that they can be protected from this curse. He urged the students and youth to come forward against drugs to make Punjab a healthy and rich state.


The speakers also informed about the DAPO Program of the state government (the module that will not only fight against drug abuse but will also work for the rehabilitation of the addicts). The event was followed by a range of queries put forward by the students to which the learned speakers aptly replied.In best university in Punjab, Desh Bhagat University Pro Vice chancellor, Dr. Neelima Jerath proposed vote of thanks and hope the event will prove fruitful for the society. E-8 Cricket Tournament (Women) Organised At Desh Bhagat University

In best university in Punjab, Desh Bhagat University organized E-8 Women Cricket Tournament (Staff) at its campus. A total of 6 teams from different faculties, College and departments participated in this tournament. The Final Match was played between the teams from Faculty of Ayurveda and Desh Bhagat Dental College.


In best university in Punjab, Desh Bhagat University Vice Chancellor, Dr. Virinder Singh was the chief guest on this occasion, who tossed for the final match.


He wished Good Luck to both teams. Earlier, 6 teams of different faculties, College and departments played their fixtures and showed their sports talent. After League and semi final matches, the Final of the tournament was particularly thrilling and interesting.


In the finals, Dental College Team won the toss and opted to field. First to bat, Faculty of Ayurveda team Openers Dr. Nitika (Captain) and Dr. Darshna played well and the team scored 59 runs by losing 7 wickets in 10 over. In reply to the given challenge of 60 runs, Dental College Team openers Dr. Kamal (Captain) and Dr. Prabhjot played excellently and scored 40 runs in just four overs.
 Both of them took the team to 50 runs without any loss.



But, the team lost their flow after both openers got out. But, Dr. Javir once again proved herself and played excellently. She hit four fours in an over of Dr. Nidhi. Finally the victory shot came out from her bat when she hit a sixer on a short pitch ball.


The Team of Dental College won the match and lifted the trophy. Dr. Kamal and Dr. Jasvir were declared Players of the tournament.


In best university in Punjab, Desh Bhagat University Chancellor, Dr. Zora Singh and Pro Chancellor Dr. Tajinder Kaur presided over the Prize Distribution function and appreciated all players for excellent play. They appreciated the players for the excellent play.


The tournament was held under the supervision of Assistant Director (Sports) of DBU Nandan Singh and Deepak Gautam .

Desh Bhagat University Student Wins Silver Medal In National Boxing (Women) Championship University Honoured Her National Finalist Student


Best University in Punjab, Desh Bhagat University Faculty of Education student Harmandeep Kaur has brought glory not only to the institution but to the state of Punjab by winning Silver Medal in National Level Boxing Competition. Harmandeep won her Silver Medal during the 17th Senior Women National Boxing Championship held recently at Brahmpur, Odisha.


This was disclosed by DBU Chancellor Dr. Zora Singh. While felicitating the student, he said that Harmandeep Kaur proved her worth during a very tough competition in Feather Weight (54-57Kg) category. She is our Shining Star and a role model for other students. She has proved that hard work and dedication always bear fruit, he added. Dr. Singh expressed the view that games and sports are an integral part of our education and to promote the same among students, Desh Bhagat University provides all types of incentives and facilities to the outstanding players.

North Zone Inter-Varsity Football Tournament (Men) Concludes at Desh Bhagat University

  Host DBU Stands Fourth And Qualifies For National Championship

 “It’s not the team with the best players that win, it’s the players with the best team that wins, said S. Gurpreet Singh GP (MLA, Bassi Pathana).


He was the Chief Guest on the final day of North Zone Intervarsity Football Tournament (Men) being held at Desh Bhagat University, best university in Punjab (2nd Rank for best private university in Punjab NIRF Ranking, MHRD- Govt. of India). He encouraged all the players to be passionate about their game, improve it with practice and promote sports in every possible way.



Chancellor Dr. Zora Singh presiding over the Prize Distribution function informed that a total of 64 teams from different universities from all over India participated in the annual tournament of Association of Indian Universities (AIU).



Mr. Kashmir Singh AGM, Indian Overseas Bank and S. Harinder Bhambri (Dist. President) graced the occasion as Guest of Honour.


They motivated all the teams to do their best and win medals for the country. They appreciated all the teams for their excellent performance. Vice-Chancellor Dr. Virinder Singh thanked the chief guest and all other guests.


The final matches of the tournament were particularly thrilling and breath-taking and players were struggling hard for even a single point. In the final, Panjabi University beat Punjab University and lifted the trophy. The result of the tournament was as under:



1.     Punjabi University, Patiala (First Position)

2      Panjab University, Chandigarh (Second Position)

3.     Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar (Third Position)

4.     Desh Bhagat University Mandi Gobindgarh (Fourth Position)


The Tournament was a source of great education and entertainment for the students and staff of different universities. All the players and coaches of the teams admired the arrangements made by the host university. Dalbir Singh (Punjabi University),


 Dr. Bhupinder Singh (Coach, Punjab University), Dr. Jaspal and Pardeep Kumar (Coaches, GNDU)and Deepak (Coach, DBU) were especially honoured on the occasion.
 

 The officials of sponsored companies and the members of Football official committee sent by AIU were also honoured for their services during the tournament.


This event was organised under the supervision of Deputy Director (Sports) and Coach, Nandan Singh. Mr. Sarabjeet Singh from Railways was the match commissioner of the tournament.
