Desh Bhagat University Organises Workshop On Artificial Intellignce For Computer Science Students

Desh Bhagat University Training and Placement Department organised a Technical Workshop for IT students. The workshop was aimed at acquainting the students with latest trends and technology of computer applications. A large number of students from MCA, M.Sc. (IT), PGDCA, B. Tech (CSE) , B.Sc. and BCA classes actively took participate.Giving details, Pro Chancellor Ms. Tajinder Kaur stated that from new session the university has started especial programmes on Industry-Academia Interface for the students. She briefed that the expert team which visited the university was headed by Mr. Manu Chopra Guest Faculty (Stanford University, California). Manu Chopra has expertise in Artificial Intelligence field. He invented and subsequently patented an anti-molestation device for women as an answer to rape cases in India for which he was honoured by the Indian President Dr. A.P.J Abdul Kalam.



While interacting with the students Manu Chopra motivated them to explore their ideas, Note them down and expand them. He said it’s only technology and the unique ideas that can produce big results so focus on them and make thinking as one of their free time activity. He exhorted the students to be an entrepreneurs rather than to be an employees.Mr. Himanshu Batra (Founder & CEO @ AcadView) while interacted with the students he emphasized that in order to get good placements in IT industry, the students should have strong practical knowledge and this is possible only through live projects.


During the workshop, the information session was followed up by various queries put forward by students to which the learned speakers aptly replied which further enhanced the knowledge of students. A small test to assess the knowledge of students was also a part of this workshop. The students were quite happy to attend these programmes and declared that it was very informative. They thanked the university authorities for arranging such a knowledgeable workshop and said that it has added to their knowledge about several important things about the latest techniques and technology.


University Chancellor, Dr. Zora Singh expressed the view that such events are very useful for students and help them in their multi-functional growth. He appreciated the initiative taken by Training and Placement Department. At the end of the workshop, university Vice-Chancellor Dr. Varinder Singh thanked the learned team and expected that it will prove quite useful for the students and faculty members.

Desh Bhagat Students Tops In The University Examination

Students of MCA of Desh Bhagat Institute of Management & Computer Sciences have brought glory to the institution by winning two out of the top five positions in the Examination held in May 2015 conducted by Punjabi University, Patiala.



Damanpreet Kaur , a student of MCA (Master of Computer Applications) Semester - 6th of Desh BhagatInstitute of Management & Computer Sciences has stood First in the Merit list by securing  2956/3400 marks in the examination. While congratulating and honouring the meritorious student with a memento, Chairman Desh Bhagat United and Chancellor Desh Bhagat University Dr. Zora Singh disclosed that Damanpreet Kaur has brought glory to the institution by topping in the university securing 86.94% marks. Another student Manpreet Kaur also got place in the meritorious category. She stood fifth in the Merit List by securing 2920/3400 marks and we are proud on them, he added.


 While congratulating both the students on their achievement, Vice Chairperson Desh Bhagat United Ms. Tajinder Kaur and Vice Chancellor Dr. Virinder Singh said that it is the result of her hard work and the able guidance given by their teachers. They also congratulated the entire staff for their dedication and commitment to duty. The student, Damanpreet Kaur who was in a jubilant   mood gives the complete credit for her glorious success to her highly committed teachers, state-of-the-art infrastructure and congenial academic atmosphere in the institute. It's worth mentioning that Damanpreet Kaur had topped in her class during the last five Semesters also. She has also been taking an active part in different academic and co-curricular activities undertaken in the institute from time to time.

It-Quiz Contest Held At Desh Bhagat University


Desh Bhagat University Faculty of Management and Computer Science organised IT-Quiz contest. Students of different classes like BCA MCA, PGDCA, B.Sc. and M.Sc. (IT) participated in it with full fervour and enthusiasm. The event was arranged by IT Club of the university in connection with final examination of the students and to enhance their knowledge through interactive methodology.  


While giving details about the event Vice–Chancellor Dr. Virinder Singh said that students of these classes were divided in to 12 different teams. The contest was based on rounds like IQ quizzes, Brain Teaser, Reasoning and Business related topics. All the students performed their best in every round and they fought hard to enter in semi finals. After Semi-finals, the final fray was in between Team BCA-6 and MCA-4. Like as Semi-Final, the final round was also very interesting, both teams were fighting hard for victory points in the margin of 1.5 points. Finally team BCA-6 consisting of Varinder Singh and Harpreet Singh took the final lead in rapid fire round. 


 They won the contest and lifted the IT-Champs trophy. Team MCA-4 consisting of Mahesh Ahuja and Anmol Dang was declared runner-up. While felicitating the students, university Chancellor Dr. Zora Singh and Pro Chancellor Ms. Tajinder Kaur said that educative events like quiz contests, debates and group discussions are an integral part of our education and to promote the same among students, University provides all types of incentives and facilities to the outstanding students. 


 It is worth mentioning that Desh Bhagat University gives full importance not only to research, innovation and other scholastic activities but also to co-curricular and sports activities.

A National Workshop on Emerging Trends in Information Technology Starts at Desh Bhagat University

A National Workshop on ‘Emerging Trends in best information technology course in punjab in University Management’ started in Desh Bhagat University.The three days long event is being organised in collaboration with Association
of Indian Universities (AIU). Giving details of the Event University
Pro-Chancellor Ms. Tajinder Kaur said that on Day First, Mr. Gobinder Singh,
District & Session Judge, Director (Administration), Chandigarh Judicial
Academy was the Chief Guest, who inaugurated the workshop and also released IPR
(Intellectual Property Rights) brochure of the university.
University Chancellor Dr. Zora Singh welcomed all the guests and said that Information Technology (IT) Industry in India is playing a key role in boosting up our country’s development in all sectors. This Industry has been one of the most significant growth contributors for the Indian Economy with latest trends and techniques.

Dr. Amrender Pani (Director, AIU) was the keynote speaker on this occasion. He said that latest techniques of Information Technology have eased educational institutions academic and administrative works as well .
Engineering & Technology
Prof. R. S. Salaria (Prof. & Head Rayat-Bahra Institute of Engineering & Technology, Hoshiarpur) said it’s time of Co-operation and Collaboration. We have to exchange views, learn new perspectives, form new alliances, learn the latest proven approaches, regulations, trends and ensure that our institutions remain competitive in the global environment of higher education. In second session of the day Dr. Vishal Goyal (Associate Prof., Punjabi University, Patiala) talked on cloud computing and its importance.

During the workshop, lectures were delivered by experts and policy makers.  PPT, Oral and Poster presentations were made by research scholars, teachers and IT experts hailing from different parts of the country. They all affirmed that to develop innovative ideas to make education more interesting and effective, so our young generation can take full benefit of it. During the discussion session, participants presented their views on different topics and shared their ideas. At the end of the inaugural day programme Dr. H. K. Sidhu and Dr. Parmod Mandal thanked all the guests and participants. Directors, Teaching, Non-Teaching staff and HoD of different faculties were also present on this occasion.

Desh Bhagat University Students Celebrate 'esparanza-14'

Desh Bhagat University Faculty of Engineering & Technology and ACE Club organised an annual technical cum cultural event 'Esparanza-14'. The objective of this progrmme was to bring out the hidden talents of the students, channelise their energies, make them aware of the social evils and highlight the rich Punjabi Culture.


More than 800 students from various disciplines of M.Tech, MCA, B.Tech, BCA, M.Sc., B.Sc. (IT) and diploma classes took part in this event. The programe was inaugurated by Chancellor of the University, Dr. Zora Singh and Pro Chancellor Tejinder Kaur. While welcoming the students who are joining Desh Bhagat University for the first time, inspired them to work hard and purse their studies with full commitment and dedication. Addressing the students, Vice Chancellor, Dr. Shalini Gupta said that Desh Bhagat University is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities of education and training and by making best use of these facilities they can achieve any heights in life. The 'Esparanza-14' event was divided into two streams namely: technical events and non-technical events. The technical competitions included, Break the code, Paper Presentation, Quiz, Match Mania, Project Display, Poster Making and Web Designing. Non technical events comprised LAN Gaming, Face Painting, Rangoli, Mehandi, Poster Making etc. Students also participated in Bhangra, Giddha, Singing, Mimicry and Short play competitions. The fashion event Glamour-ACE was the main attraction of the event. Students presented their own creations on the ramp. The highlight of the event was 'Kaun Banega Aaj ka Engineer' played on the line of the serial KBC. That was truly liked by one and all. The event was a treat for all was highly appreciated. The winners of these events were honoured by the university officials. Director Faculty of Engineering and Technology, Dr. P.S. Cheema appreciated the performance of the students and thanked all the guests. On this occasion, Controller Examination Dr. I.S. Sethi, Registrar Dr. Virinder Singh and directors of different university faculties were also present.

Eight Students Of Desh Bhagat University In The Best University In Punjab Selected In Wipro



Eight students of MCA Final year of Desh Bhagat University in the best mca college in Chandigarh and in the best university in Punjab, Faculty of Computer Science and Applications have brought glory to the institution by getting selection in well-known software company Wipro. The university students namely Dilawar Singh, Heena Thakur, Deepak Kumar, Sumeet Kumar, Kamal Kapoor, Sarabjeet Kaur, Jatinder Singh, and Hardeep Kaur have been selected in Wipro Technologies. The company selected these students through Joint Campus Placement drive which was held at Baddi University. The selection process consisted of an online test, presentations by the company representatives followed by group discussion & personal interviews. After rigorous rounds of selection, Wipro selected 8 students for the posts of ‘Management Trainees’ for NCR location.

While congratulating all the selected students, university Chancellor Dr. Zora Singh and Pro-Chancellor Tejinder Kaur said that they are proud of them and encouraged the students to work with full dedication. They also appreciated the staff for their dedication and commitment to duty.
Vice Chancellor Dr. Shalini Gupta and Pro Vice-Chancellor Dr. Shantnu Chatterjee have also congratulated the selected students and said that it is the result of the able guidance and hard work done by Training and Placement Department of the university, teachers as well as the students. Director (Academics) Dr. Rajesh Goyal, Registrar Dr. Virinder Singh and all staff members wished the students a bright future and said that they are going to work with a company which is world famous and known for its exemplary work.

14 Students Of Desh Bhagat University In The Best University In Punjab Selected In Campus Placement Drive

Training and Placement Cell of Desh Bhagat University in the best university in Punjab and in the top universities in India organized a Joint Campus Placement Drive with Logitech Technologies Private Limited, a well reputed IT Company & BPO in India. This drive was for the B. Tech (CSE/IT/ECE/ME/CE streams) students. During the Placement Drive, students were shortlisted through Written Test, Group Discussions & Personal Interview by company officials. After rigorous rounds, the company selected 14 Candidates. University Vice-Chancellor Dr. Shalini Gupta while giving details about the placement drive said that these selected students will get a package of Rs. 2.4 Lacs to 1.8 Lacs per annum and the company will deploy them for different positions such as Management Trainees, Team Leader Associates, etc. at different Locations in Punjab.
