Ten Students Of Desh Bhagat University Selected For Job

Ten students of Desh Bhagat University have brought glory to the institution by getting selection in well known company Metal Craft Industries with handsome salary package. Giving details about the selected students, university Pro-Chancellor Ms. Tajinder Kaur informed that the ten students of university’s Mechanical Engineering (ME) course namely Munish, Sandeep , Atul , Harpreet , Bikramjit , Ashwinder , Rajat Kumar , Rohit Kumar, Vishal Kumar and Deepak have been selected in Metal Craft Industry, Rajpura. The company is Manufacturer and Suppliers of Transaxle Parts, Gear Parts, Chassis Parts, Tractor Parts and Automobile parts etc.

The company selected these students through selection process consisted of online test, followed by group discussion and personal interview. The officials gave a presentation about their company and created awareness among the students present for the Interview. After rigorous rounds of selection, company selected 10 students for the posts of ‘Trainee Engineer’ after handing over their appointment letters immediately after selection.While congratulating selected students, university Chancellor Dr. Zora Singh and Vice Chancellor Dr. Virinder Singh said that they are proud of them and encouraged the students to work with full dedication. They said that it is the result of the able guidance and hard work done by Training and Placement Department of the university, teachers as well as the students. Dbu

The students who were in a jubilant mood gave the entire credit for their success to the highly committed teachers, state-of-the-art infrastructure and congenial academic environment in the university. Voter Awareness Drive at Desh Bhagat University

Vote Casting is the right of every citizen and everyone who is of 18 years of age must use this right, said Amandeep Singh Patti, SDM Amloh. He was speaking at Voter Enrollment Awareness Drive organised by District Administration in association with Bhai Kanhaya Ji NSS Department of Desh Bhagat University.

While speaking on the occasion he said as per official data, Voter Enrollment ratio in Amloh consetuency is very low as comapred to the numer of youths of the area. He encouraged the students to make sure about their enrollment as a voter and they must use their fundamental right. He also advised the youth who have not got enrolleed till date as voters to fill the voter form manually or get themselves registered online.

He said that every citizen must vote in coming assembly election 2017 and make sure of their contribution to the society by electing suitable candidates.

Appreciating the initiative, University Chancellor Dr. Zora Singh and Pro Chancellor Tejinder Kaur said that our youth is the future of our country and we have high hopes on them. So they should not only get enrolled as a voter and cast their own votes but also motivate others to come forward to exercise their right to vote.

The students and staff members of the university showed great enthusiasm and participated in this awareness drive. The students who will exercise their vote for the first time were looking particularly excited. Naib Tehsildar Nirpal Singh Tiwana, Director Dr. Kulbhushan, HoD's of different Faculties and staff members were also present on this occasion.

A Special Convocation at Desh Bhagat University

Desh Bhagat University held its Special Convocation in a very impressive manner. The university conferred three D. Lit (Honorius Cause) degrees to the eminent personalities of different fields.

University Chancellor Dr. Zora Singh declared the convocation open. Addressing all present on the occasion he said that for the betterment of the youths and to make them an entrepreneurs Vocational Education is the need of the hour and Desh Bhagat University is taking each and every step for this purpose. He also insisted on Industry-Academia and Academia-Academia collaboration of educational organizations for the promotion of quality and time relevant education.  He also declared academic collaboration of Desh Bhagat University with Kaziranga University, Jorhat Assam.

Pro Chancellor of Desh Bhagat University Ms. Tajinder Kaur welcomed Guests of Honour as well as all other guests. She also declared that by accepting the D. Lit (Honoris Causa) from Desh Bhagat University, these personalities have become its alumni.On this occasion, Desh Bhagat University conferred D. Lit (Honoris Causa) degrees on Sh. Murli Dhar Khetan , (Chancellor, Kaziranga University, Jorhat Assam), Dr. Uday B.  Garudachar (Managing Director, Garuda Group, Banglore) and Mr. Feroz Sattar Sait (MD, Safina Brands, Banglore). All the recipients of honorary degrees thanked the University for recognizing their contribution to the society and honouring them for the same. Citations about recipients of the honorary degrees were read by Dr. H.K. Sidhu, Dr. Payal Bassi and Dr. Harmanjot Kaur.

Mr. B.K. Khetan (Pro-Chancellor, Kaziranga University), Mrs. Medini Uday Garudachar, Mr. Pranav Garudachar, Dr. Sunil Roy, Dr. Raju Chandershekhra, Mr. T.K. Home (Regional Director, KU Assam) and Mr. Aurthor graced the occasion as Guests of Honour. Vice Chancellor of Desh Bhagat University Dr. Virinder Singh expressed his views that with academic collaboration with other universities will be a blessing for the students.

While thanking all present, university Registrar S. Hardev Singh and Vice- President Desh Bhagat United, Er. Sandeep Singh observed that the special convocation will be marked in the annals of the university as a golden day and the university feels proud by honouring these personalities. The Convocation concluded successfully leaving behind everlasting memories.

Inter Faculty Volleyball Tournament at Desh Bhagat University

It was the day of Smashes and Spikes at Desh Bhagat University. Players showed their excellent sports skill. The occasion was Inter Faculty Volleyball Tournament of the University.  A total of 16 teams including 12 teams of boys and 4 teams of girls participated in it. University Vice Chancellor, Dr. Virinder Singh inaugurated the event and said that games and sports are an essential part of our education, these have educational as well as recreational values and these also keep us fit and fine.

The Tournament was a source of great education and entertainment for the students and staff members. All the teams played their best and fought hard for a single point to enter in the final fray. After league matches, the Finals of the tournament were particularly thrilling and breath-taking.

In finals of boy's category, Faculty of Ayurveda and Research beat Faculty of Nursing by 25-22 and in finals of girl's Category Faculty of Nursing beat Faculty of  Education by 25-18.University Chancellor Dr. Zora Singh presided over the Prize Distribution function.

While congratulating the winning teams and best players he said that the important thing in a game is not to win or lose but to play in the true sportsman spirit. He appreciated all the participated teams for the excellent play. Speaking on the occasion Pro Chancellor Ms. Tajinder Kaur said that Desh Bhagat University is providing all types of facilities for all the major indoor and outdoor games to its students so that they are able to attain the desired heights in the field of sports. Desh Bhagat University Organises Workshop On Artificial Intellignce For Computer Science Students

Desh Bhagat University Training and Placement Department organised a Technical Workshop for IT students. The workshop was aimed at acquainting the students with latest trends and technology of computer applications. A large number of students from MCA, M.Sc. (IT), PGDCA, B. Tech (CSE) , B.Sc. and BCA classes actively took participate.Giving details, Pro Chancellor Ms. Tajinder Kaur stated that from new session the university has started especial programmes on Industry-Academia Interface for the students. She briefed that the expert team which visited the university was headed by Mr. Manu Chopra Guest Faculty (Stanford University, California). Manu Chopra has expertise in Artificial Intelligence field. He invented and subsequently patented an anti-molestation device for women as an answer to rape cases in India for which he was honoured by the Indian President Dr. A.P.J Abdul Kalam.

While interacting with the students Manu Chopra motivated them to explore their ideas, Note them down and expand them. He said it’s only technology and the unique ideas that can produce big results so focus on them and make thinking as one of their free time activity. He exhorted the students to be an entrepreneurs rather than to be an employees.Mr. Himanshu Batra (Founder & CEO @ AcadView) while interacted with the students he emphasized that in order to get good placements in IT industry, the students should have strong practical knowledge and this is possible only through live projects.

During the workshop, the information session was followed up by various queries put forward by students to which the learned speakers aptly replied which further enhanced the knowledge of students. A small test to assess the knowledge of students was also a part of this workshop. The students were quite happy to attend these programmes and declared that it was very informative. They thanked the university authorities for arranging such a knowledgeable workshop and said that it has added to their knowledge about several important things about the latest techniques and technology.

University Chancellor, Dr. Zora Singh expressed the view that such events are very useful for students and help them in their multi-functional growth. He appreciated the initiative taken by Training and Placement Department. At the end of the workshop, university Vice-Chancellor Dr. Varinder Singh thanked the learned team and expected that it will prove quite useful for the students and faculty members.

Teachers' Day Celebration AT Desh Bhagat University

Desh Bhagat University and Desh Bhagat United celebrated Teachers' Day' in a big way in which teaching staff and students of different faculties took part. Dr. Zora Singh, Chancellor, Desh Bhagat University and Chairman of Desh Bhagat United inaugurated the event. Paying respectful homages to Dr. Radha Krishanan, the late President of India, and a great teacher, educationist and philosopher, Dr. Zora Singh said, ‘Teachers plays a great role in the development of the youth, the society and the country. 

The developed nations and societies ruled the world by virtue of their ‘knowledge’ and the source of this knowledge is the teacher. He further added that a good teacher is always a student who always ready to learn without any ego and maintains his/her self esteem.

Dr. Ranjiv Kumar Garg (I.P.S), Additional Director General of Police, Madhya Pardesh was the Chief Guest of the programme.  While speaking on the occasion he said that Teaching is a noble profession as teachers make a great impact on the growth, development and well being of the students and nation. He shared reminiscences of his school and Police Academy teachers.Vice Chancellor Dr. Virinder Singh and Vice President Er. Sandeep Singh congratulated everybody on this occasion and told the teachers to recognise their worth and adopt professional ethics and moral values.The highlight of the function was the Awards Function to honour the Directors, the administrators, the teachers and the non-teaching employees for their special contribution and distinguished services to the cause of education and development of the group and the University. Pro Chancellor Ms. Tajinder Kaur proposed vote of thanks and said that a teacher is like a friend, a guide, a philosopher and a Power house who shows the right path to the students and makes their lives worth living.On this occasion a colourful cultural function was oraganised, in which students as well as teachers performed on the stage. The entertaining part of the programme was the students enacting & mimicking their teachers. They sang situational songs for them and presented greeting cards as token of their respect and appreciation. The program ended with a high tea and leaving behind sweet memories those will be cherished lifelong.

Guest Lecture at Desh Bhagat University

A motivational and very knowledgeable guest lecture was organised at Desh Bhagat University.  The programme was especially arranged for the students of Management and Fashion & Technology courses. The event was organised by Training and Placement Department of the university. The learned speaker on this occasion was Mr. Ajit Lakra, MD, Superfine Knitters, Ludhiana.While addressing the students and faculty members, Mr. Lakra exhorted them to set a mission in their life, plan strategy to achieve that and take lessons from all their failures. The learned speaker stressed on time management. He said that time management is essential in every field of life because time is the precious recourse one has to accomplish a task. Time management helps you to do your task in time and perform the task more efficiently.

In his two hour power packed lecture, he discussed several points and shared his views regarding Management Skills, Self Discipline, Punctuality, Leadership Quality Prospects of Textile Industry, Specialisations in Textile course and job prospects. He also advised the students to improve their communication skills and keep themselves updated from time to timeThe students evinced a keen interest in the lecture and during the interaction session, they asked relevant questions on different topics which the learned speaker answered to their entire satisfaction.

University Chancellor Dr. Zora Singh and Pro Chancellor Ms. Tajinder Kaur expressed their happiness and appreciated the learned speaker for his valuable thoughts and said that such events are very useful for students and this will help in their multi-functional growth.
