International Women's Day: DBU Will Provide Free Education To Class III And IV Employees

Desh Bhagat University will provide free education to its Class-lll and Class-IV employees and they will get one hour relaxation for their education, this declaration was made by University Pro Chancellor Dr. Tajinder Kaur, while presiding over the Women's Day function at the campus. She admitted that the thinking of society about women has changed a lot and they are much stronger than before but still there are several miles to go for their full empowerment.
University Chancellor Dr. Zora Singh conveyed his best wishes to all the women employees of the university on this auspicious occasion. He said that we can't imagine a world without women and we must show maximum regard to them. During the event students and faculty members of different faculties participated with full enthusiasm.

Vice Chancellor Dr. Varinder Singh said that women are contributing a lot in the progress of society and the country and it’s essential for the society to give full respect to the women and every kind of oppression must be stopped against them. Pro vice chancellor Dr. Tajinder Kaur said that the girls should get education and become aware of their rights, so that they can become self-reliant and make their contribution to the development of the country, he added.

Faculty of education organised a Social Awareness Program and Tree Plantation Drive on this occasion. The motto of the program was to create awareness regarding crime against women, female foeticide, use of drugs and social evils.
A cultural function was also organised, in which girl students performed items like Giddha, Songs, Play and recital of poems. Girl students who had performed excellently in the field of sports and academic were also honoured. Director Dr. Kulbhushan, Director Dr. Ramandeep Dhillon, Dr. Surjeet Patheja, HoD and staff members of different faculties were also present on this occasion.

Future Belongs To The Youth : Varun Gandhi

Future belongs to India’s Youth as we have maximum young population of the world who are energetic and have the potential to become a super power in the near future, said Mr. Varun Gandhi, Member Parliament. He was interacting with the students and staff on the topic 'Rashtriya Nav Nirman Ke Liye Nayi Soch' at Desh Bhagat University, Mandi Gobindgarh.

Addressing the mammoth gathering present in the auditorium (on the occasion), Mr. Gandhi said that the youth are the backbone of the country, they have full potential to take our country to the pinnacle on the world Canvas and they can keep up this stage till eternity . He motivated the students to think big, dream big and achieve big.

Mr. Gandhi further asserted that the Youth should focus not only on fulfilling their personal dreams but should also work for the betterment of the society and the development of the nation. He also gave some examples of the young entrepreneurs who have proved themselves even in-spite of the lack of basic facilities. He also discussed about young Durgesh, Aniket Deodhar, Aishwarya Prashar  who are regularly working for the development of the society.

Earlier, University Chancellor Dr. Zora Singh while welcoming Mr. Varun Gandhi said that it’s a time of innovation, smart technology, world class infrastructure and latest techniques.  The paramount accountability of the students would be to contribute and make our country sound and strong on the world map.

 To create awareness regarding Environmental Protection, Mr. Varun Gandhi planted 'Camphor Plant' at the campus.

University Pro Chancellor Dr. Tajinder thanked Mr. Varun Gandhi for sparing his precious time for the students and hoped that it will prove quite useful for them and the faculty members too. Vice Chancellor Dr. Virinder Singh and Pro Vice Chancellor Dr. Neelima Jerath said that such events are very useful for the young generation, especially the students.  It will encourage them to do big for the country.  A large number of students from different faculties and faculty members were present on this occasion.

Desh Bhagat University's 4th Convocation Held, 600 Degrees Conferred

4th Convocation of Desh Bhagat University was held as a landmark day. About 600 pass outs including PhD’s and M. Phil’s of the university and the Desh Bhagat United belonging to different streams participated in the convocation and received their degrees and medals.

Honourable Governor of Punjab Sh. V. P. Singh Badnore was the Chief Guest on the occasion. In his address, he said that future belongs to those who believe in dreams, Go and fulfill their dreams and shine on the country and the world canvas.

He also urged the youth to keep away from all kinds of drugs as well as social evils and contribute to the development of the nation.  Earlier Honorable Governor formally inagurated the Desh Bhagt Dental College and Hospital that has recently shifted to Mandi Gobindgarh from Sri Mukatsar Sahib.

While addressing the graduates and the mammoth gathering present on the occasion, University Chancellor Dr. Zora Singh exhorted the students to have high values, work hard and adopt positive attitude to fulfill their own dreams as well as the dreams of their parents. Pro Chancellor of the University Dr. Tajinder Kaur welcomed Chief Guest, Guests of Honour as well as all other guests.

On this occasion, Desh Bhagat University conferred Ph.D / D. Lit (Honoris Causa) degree on Sh. H. D. Deve Gowda (Former Prime Minister of India), Kumari Nivedita Raghunath Bhide (Vice-President, Vivekananda Kendra, Kanyakumari), Mr. Sandeep Singh (Former Captain, Indian Hockey Team) and Manishi Sant Muni Shri Vinay Kumar ji ‘Alok’. All the recipients of honorary degrees thanked the University for recognizing their contribution to the society and honouring them for the same. The MD's and CEO's of different companies who are associated with the universirty were also honoured. The appointment letters were handed over by the chief guest to the students who have been selected for Equity Score. These students will recieve monthly compensastion of $ 250 for 12 months.

Vice Chancellor of Desh Bhagat University Dr. Virinder Singh read the academic report of the university and highlighted its achievements. The students who have performed excellently during the academic year in sports and other co-curricular activities were especially honoured with medals and certificates.

While thanking all present, university provost Dr. Neelima Jerath and Vice- President Desh Bhagat United, Er. Sandeep Singh observed that this convocation will be marked in the annals of the university as a golden day and the university feels proud by honouring these personalities. The Convocation concluded successfully leaving behind everlasting memories.

Desh Bhagat University will be holding its Convocation tomorrow 14 Feb 2017

The stage is all set for the Convocation-2017 of Desh Bhagat University to be held on 14th February (Tuesday), on the campus. As many as 600 pass outs of the university and the group are expected to participate in the convocation and receive their degrees. On this occasion, Honourable Governor of Punjab Sh. V. P. Singh Badnore will preside over the function and Former Prime Minister of India Sh. H. D. Deve Gowda will be the Chief Guest.

Giving this information to the media, Chancellor of the university, Dr. Zora Singh disclosed that it will also be an occasion for Desh Bhagat University to confer P.HD. (Honoris Causa) to Sh. H. D. Deve Gowda (Former Prime Minister of India), Kumari Nivedita Raghunath Bhide (Vice-President, Vivekananda Kendra, Kanyakumari), Mr. Sandeep Singh (Former Captain, Indian Hockey Team) and Manishi Sant Muni Shri Vinay Kumar ji ‘Alok’.
It is worth mentioning that Desh Bhagat United has been imparting Professional and Technical Education in this area for the last over 21 years and has excellent track record. In view of its contribution in the field of higher education and the facilities available here, the state government has elevated it to the status of a state private university. At present, over 8000 students from 29 states of India and 12 different countries of the world are getting education in more than 175 conventional and non-conventional courses.

Desh Bhagat University Observes World Cancer Day

Desh Bhagat University Faculty of Nursing observed World Cancer Day with the objective to spread awareness about Cancer, its prevention, treatment and associated ailments. Students of all the nursing classes took part in it and made a march to surrounding areas to make the people aware about Cancer and other diseases.

 In another move, students accompanied by their teachers went to Civil Hospital Fatehgarh Sahib. Here students made the people aware by giving adequate information about Cancer through charts and posters. The initiative was highly acclaimed by Civil Surgeon, Fatehgarh Sahib and other health officials.

While speaking on the occasion Senior Medical Officer encouraged all the students and health department employees to create awareness among maximum number of people about Cancer and tell them how they can save themselves from this fatal disease.

Faculty of Nursing Director Dr. Ramandeep Kaur Dhillon said that overall it was a very knowledgeable program for the students.  She informed that Faculty of Nursing is regularly organising such awareness drives in which students participate with enthusiasm. University Chancellor Dr. Zora Singh, Pro Chancellor Dr. Tajinder Kaur, appreciated the initiative taken by Faculty of Nursing.

Seminar On Nanotechnology At Desh Bhagat University

Desh Bhagat University Department of Agriculture & Life Sciences and Faculty of Engineering orgainsed a one day seminar on ‘Nanotechnology: Emerging Trends in Research and Innovation’. The event was arranged under the supervision of Pro Vice-Chancellor & Dean Research, Dr. Neelima Jerath. Speaking on the occasion Dr. Jerath said that we are using Nano technology in all our hi-tech gadgets like smart watches, smart mobiles, washing machines, electronic instruments etc. and now it’s a part of our routine life. With the help of Nano Technology we are getting knowledge of that area which was so far unexplored and tough sometime, she added.

Dr. Ashok Kumar Ganguli, (Director, Institute of Nano Science and Technology, Mohali) was the Chief Guest, who inaugurated the event and also presented his views and on Nano Science and Nano Technology. He exhorted the students to get maximum practical knowledge in this field and invent something new that may be very helpful for the society. He also talked about continuous research work being done by the students and scholars at INST.

Dr. P. K. Vijaya Kumar- (Assistant Professor, Institute of Nano Science and Technology , Mohali) shared his views about design of controlled and targeted agriculture pesticide delivery nano carrier with copper graphene oxide components. He said that latest techniques with use of nano technology have eased in each and every sector like agriculture, aviation, medical, education and industry. In second session of the day Dr. Mintu Tyaagi (Assistant Professor, Applied Sciences, DBU) talked about ongoing research in DBU on Nano Technology and its importance. He also read brief report of different projects being under taken by the university.

Chancellor Dr. Zora Singh appreciated the initiative taken by research cell of DBU. He said that area of technology is very vast and nano technology is proving very useful in our day to day life During the seminar, lectures were delivered by experts.  PPT, Oral and Poster presentations were made by research scholars, teachers and experts from different departments of Engineering. During the discussion session, participants presented their views on different topics and shared their ideas.Vice Chancellor Dr. Virinder Singh said that such events add to the knowledge of the students and enhance their self-confidence. At the end of the programme Pro Chancellor Dr. Tajinder Kaur thanked all the guests and participants. Director Dr. Surjeet Patheja, Dr. H. K. Sidhu, Dr. Pooja Gulati, Teaching, Non-Teaching staff and HoD of different faculties were also present on this occasion.

Signature Campaign For Voting At Desh Bhagat University

Bhai Kanhaya Ji NSS Department of Desh Bhagat University organized a Voter Awareness Drive 'I Pledge to Vote' and Signature Campaign at the campus. The event was arranged to educate and encourage the people, especially the youths to exercise their voting right.

University Chancellor Dr. Zora Singh presided over the event and said that Vote Casting is the right of every citizen and everyone who is of 18 years of age must use this right. While signing the pledge for vote he said that every citizen must vote in Punjab assembly election and make sure of their contribution to the society by electing suitable candidates. Vice Chancellor Dr. Virinder Singh motivated all the students present on the occasion to take a pledge to exercise their voting right.
The students and staff members of the university showed great enthusiasm and participated in this awareness drive and pledged to cast their votes. The awareness drive and signature campaign got overwhelming response and within few hours, the whole signature board was filled with the signatures of the students and the staff. The students who are going to exercise their vote for the first time were looking particularly excited. As a part of this awareness campaign, NSS volunteers visited surrounding areas to make people aware about the importance of their vote and exhorted them to inevitably cast their vote.

Appreciating the initiative, Pro Chancellor Dr. Tajinder Kaur said that our country is the largest democracy in the world and now it's the turn of our youth to cast their votes and give a direction to the country.

On this occasion, and Pro Vice Chancellor Dr. Neelima Jerath and Vice President Desh Bhagat United Er. Sandeep Singh said that our youth should not only cast their own votes but also motivate others to come forward to exercise their right to vote. Directors of different Faculties and staff members were also marked their presence on this occasion.
