Desh Bhagat University Organises Cross Country to Say No Drugs

"We have to be much more aware and alert to keep our youth away from drugs and for this cause, different social organisations and educational institutes have to come forward ", said Pro Chancellor Ms. Tajinder Kaur, Desh Bhagat University.  She was flagging off the inter college/faculty Cross Country Race, arranged to create awareness against Drug Abuse. The race began early in the morning. University students from different faculties of university took part in it with full enthusiasm. Pro Chancellor Ms. Tajinder Kaur herself actively participated in the event and ran with the students. Vice-Chancellor Dr. Virinder Singh was also present on the occasion. The race started from the university and finished back to the University.

Although, the competition was tough but it was a source of great awareness and inspiration for the students who evinced great interest. In boy's category, Ram Singh (Faculty of Management) was the first to cross the finishing line followed by Lenni Jay Singh (Faculty of Engineering) who placed second and Lovepreet Singh (Faculty of Management) stood third.

Though for girls, the finishing point distance was less than the boys but they ran with full enthusiaisam. Usha Rani (Faculty of Education) stood first, Mansi (School of Media and Animation) stood second and Navdeep Kaur (Faculty of Agriculture) was declared third in this competition.

The winning students were honoured by university Chancellor Dr. Zora Singh, who stated that objective of this race, was to make maximum people aware against Drugs. He urged the students to remain fit , keep away from drugs and all kind of bad habits so that they may contribute to country’s progress. He appreciated all the students who took part in the race and also congratulated the staff members for the excellent arrangements of the race.

Vice Chancellor Dr. Virinder Singh while congratulating the winning players said that true sportsman spirit is more important than win or lose in a game. He said that Desh Bhagat University is providing all types of facilities for all the major indoor and outdoor games to its students so that they are able to attain the desired heights in the field of sports. The tournament was held under the supervision of sports coordinator and Coach Nandan Singh.

Desh Bhagat University Pro Chancellor Ms. Tajinder Kaur Conferred Life Time Achievement Award

Desh Bhagat University Pro Chancellor Ms. Tajinder Kaur has been honoured with 'Life Time Achievement Award' during the United Nations sponsored World Youth Skills Day Celebrations- 2016 program organised by National Institute of Cleanliness Education and Research (NICER) at India International Center, New Delhi. Ms. Tajinder Kaur, who is also the CEO of Hara Punjab Khara Samaj, an NGO working for social causes and environmental protection was awarded by Dr.  Priya Ranjan Trivedi, (President, Confederation of Indian Universities)  for her exceptional contribution in the field of Women Empowerment, Environment and Social Service. Eminent educationists,  Ambassador of different countries including Mr.  Abdoulaye Sow, Counselor, Embassy of the Republic of Guinea in India, Mr.  Godwin M. Honde, Second Secretary, Republic of Malawi and a large number of students were present on this occasion.

Ms. Tajinder Kaur feeling elevated with the 'Life Time Achievement Award', said this award was a huge milestone of her life. She said the recognition which the NICER has awarded her with, sets for her new horizons as she pledges to take these as new challenges with full dedication and commitment. Talking about new challenges she said that this award is not only her personal achievement but a huge recognition of merit for the entire Desh Bhagat Family.

University Chancellor Dr. Zora Singh and Vice Chancellor Dr. Virinder Singh congratulated Ms. Tajinder Kaur and said that this award is the result of her hard work, commitment, dedication and her innovative and excellent contribution in the field of Environment and social service. It is worth mentioning that besides being a well-known environmental activist, she is an excellent orator and an able motivator.  Female education and creating awareness against social evils are her special fields of activity.
Directors and officials of different university faculties, Teaching and Non Teaching staff have also congratulated Ms. Tajinder Kaur on this achievement.

Twenty Students Of Desh Bhagat University Selected For Job

Desh Bhagat University, Faculty of Engineering and Technology’s Twenty (20) students of Diploma Mechanical Final year have brought glory to the institution by getting selection in well known company Bajaj Sons. While giving details, university Pro Chancellor Ms. Tajinder Kaur said that the university students namely Dharminder Singh, Jaspreet Singh, Gautam Kumar, Surinder Singh, Summit Kumar, Navjot Singh, Sukhjeet Singh, Gurjivan Singh, Rohit Kumar, Hanpreet Singh, Gurpreet Singh, Shubham Dhammi, Rahul, Gagandeep Singh, Gagan Sidhu, Kamal Singh, Mohit Sharma, Manpreet Singh, Gurpinder Singh and Shubham Kumar have been chosen by the company. The company selected these students through selection process consisted of online test, presentations by the company representatives followed by group discussion & personal interviews. After rigorous rounds of selection, Bajaj Sons Pvt. Ltd functioneries selected all 20 students for the posts of ‘Management Trainees’ for Ludhiana location. The company is in the business of manufacturing components for two- wheelers, four wheelers and tractors.

While congratulating all the selected students, university Chancellor Dr. Zora Singh said that we are proud of them and encouraged the students to work with full dedication. He also appreciated the staff for their dedication and commitment to duty. Vice Chancellor Dr. Virinder Singh congratulated the selected students and said that it is the result of the able guidance and hard work done by Training and Placement Department of the university, teachers as well as the students. The students who were in a jubilant mood gave the entire credit for their success to the highly committed teachers, state-of-the-art infrastructure and congenial academic environment in the university. It merits mention that the university has tie-ups with reputed national/international companies and organisations to ensure best training and placement prospects for its students.

1 Lac Jobs Opportunities For Dbu Students

Desh Bhagat University in its ongoing endeavor to promote Research and Employability in Higher Education of International standards in India, today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with U.S. based Company Equity Score LLC. While unveiling this news, Chancellor Dr. Zora Singh said that MOU will provide various opportunities of jobs through Equity Score LLC for the youth. He added that after this MOU, the university will offer lakhs of new jobs for Graduate Students.  Dr. Singh further informed that Equity Score LLC will establish a Research Center in the university which will be the first Center of its kind in India.

Professor Paul Douglas Katchings, who is Advisor to Equity Score LLC and part of association is being designated as Professor-At-Large at DBU, addressed the press conference and said, “New Partnerships will create 100,000 new part-time jobs for New Apps creation with new teams, the modern communications tools used today, and a new Certification Program from the Desh Bhagat University that will increase financial literacy about public companies and enable collaboration across multiple disciplines. A new Certificate Program at Desh Bhagat University (DBU) has been instituted to organize students and professionals into special teams that we call Skills 31 Teams®. We are looking for exactly 100,006 interdisciplinary engineers to get organized into 3,226 teams. The base income for each team member will range between $300 to $520 a month along with stock options valued between $202,000 and $313,000”.

Professor Paul further said that Engineers are good at solving problems. As long as their work meets the needs of society – as long as what they make is useful to society – then good results are manifested. Engineers must work with architects, sociologists, musicians, cinematographers and people trained in other non-engineering disciplines.

Desh Bhagat University Celebrates Isro’s 20-In-1 Satellite Launching Mission Success

Desh Bhagat University celebrated the historical success of ISRO’s 20-in-1 satellite launching mission with full enthusiasm. The Live telecast of PSLV-C34’s launch was demonstrated to the student as shown on Doordarshan in the Seminar Hall.  The moment when the Polar Satellite Launching Vehicle PSLV-C34 launched and successfully injected 20 earth observation and imaging satellites including country's earth observation satellite Cartosat, Google’s Sky Sat Gen2-1 and 18 other satellites, all present danced out of joy. University Chancellor Dr. Zora Singh and Pro Chancellor Tejinder Kaur while congratulating the all present, stated that it is a proud moment for every Indian as ISRO accomplished major Landmark in the areas of Space Research and Satellite Launching. This historical success is the result of ISRO’s hard work and vision, it will boost the morale of our scientists and the prestige of our country at international level, they added.
Vice Chancellor Dr. Varinder Singh said that with this success, a new chapter has been written in the field of Space Science and Technology in India. While celebrating the success of ISRO, HoD Department of Aeronautical Engineering, Er. Parmod Mandal said that Indian Scientists have proved their mettle. A short film of India’s Space Research Mission was also shown on this occasion. A large number of students and faculty members were present on this occasion.

Desh Bhagat University’s Another Student Make His Debut On Colors Channel

Desh Bhagat University another student has glorified the name of the institution.  Vishal Singh Deot, a pass out of University Department of Media and Journalism, has made his debut as an actor on Colors Channel’s well acclaimed serial Shakti- Astitva ke Ehsas ki.

Vishal especially came to the university to seek blessings from university authorities and his teachers. Chancellor Dr. Zora Singh and Pro Chancellor Ms. Tajinder Kaur conveyed their best wishes to him and said that one more student has brought glory to the university and we are sure that he will be recognized as a versatile actor and we are proud of him.

 DBU While briefing about his role in the serial, Vishal said he is playing the role of a college student in the serial Shakti and his character bears negative shades. He will appear in the serial from 20th of June (Monday) episode against Vivian Desena . He said that he is privileged that he got a chance to work with Silver Screen and Television’s Big Stars like Ayub Khan, Vivian Desena, Rubina, Sudesh Beri and many others in his debut serial. He gives the complete credit for his success to his highly committed teachers, state-of-the-art infrastructure and congenial academic atmosphere in the university.

Vice-Chancellor Dr. Virinder Singh and Desh Bhagat United Vice-President, Er. Sandeep Singh also congratulated the student and wished that he will make still higher achievements in his future. It is worth mentioning that earlier university’s pass out student Vinit Attri has made his acting debut in this serial, he is playing the character of Ranjity.

Farewell Party For Mba & B. Com Students At Desh Bhagat University

A Fabulous Farewell Party for MBA and B. Com Final year classes’ was Organised at Desh Bhagat University. A Colourful Cultural Programme was arranged on this occasion, in which students performed in various activities like Dancing, Singing, Pair Dance, Choreography, Mono Acting, Mimicry and Fun Games etc. The main attraction of the party was to sing a song on a particular situation, given to outgoing students by their juniors. To add more fun to the celebration, the outgoing students' precise commentary on their personalities were also enacted by their juniors as a token of love and honour.

After diverse rounds of games and performance, from MBA class Palak won the title of 'Miss Farewell' and Deepak was chosen as 'Mr. Farewell'. In another title, Jasneet Kaur won the Miss Personality and Rakesh Kumar got Mr. Personality title.

In class B. Com., Amneet Kaur got 'Miss Farewell' and Jagjeet Singh got 'Mr. Farewell' title, while Jasmeen Kaur elected as Ms. Commerce and Harvir Singh as Mr. Commerce. The party was highly enjoyed and appreciated by the students Dbu .

University Chancellor, Dr. Zora Singh and Pro Chancellor Ms. Tajinder Kaur conveyed their best wishes to the students and emphasized that they should work hard for being successful in their future careers. Vice Chancellor Dr. Virinder Singh wished the students good luck and inspired them to be responsible citizens.
