Desh Bhagat University Celebrated International Nurses Day

Faculty of Nursing at Desh Bhagat amongst Top Nursing Colleges in Punjab celebrated International Nurses Day with great fervour. A special function was organized to mark the day. University Chancellor Dr. Zora Singh inaugurated the event. Speaking on the occasion, he said that International Nurses Day is marked every year to celebrate the contributions to society and medical care made by nurses around the world.

 The date was chosen as Florence Nightingale's birth anniversary – to celebrate the 'lady with the lamp' who nursed wounded soldiers during the Crimean War, and whose progressive ideas and reforms influenced the nature of modern-day nursing. He appreciated the initiative taken by the nursing students.

 A health awareness programme was arranged by the Nursing students at DBU, top rank university in Punjab. Giving more details about it, Director Faculty of Nursing Dr. Ramandeep Dhillon said that nursing students took part in different activities. The students organised a door to door campaign to create awareness among people regarding Drugs, Diabetes, Cancer, Epilepsy and other different diseases. The students distributed pictorial pamphlets to spread awareness among school students, local residents and surrounding areas of Amloh and Fatehgarh Sahib.

 The students also urged the people to keep their surroundings clean and green and grow maximum number of trees. At campus, students presented a colourful cultural programme and also performed a role play on Nursing profession.

Later, the students who had made excellent performance in events like awareness activities, quiz contest, poster making, speech contest and other competitions were honoured. Vice-Chancellor Dr. Virinder Singh also appreciated the move and said that such programmes are very helpful for the people, especially for the rural area people who will get to know more information and they would take precautions as it is well said and accepted that Precaution is Better than Cure. Vice Principal Deepak Shandilya, Faculty and staff members of nursing was also present on the occasion.

Desh Bhagat University Faculty of Hotel Management and Tourism among Top Hotel Management Institute In Punjab congratulates 18 students who have brought glory to the institution by getting selection in well known Hotels of India and Abroad with handsome salary package.Giving details about the selected students, Pro-Chancellor Dr. Tajinder Kaur informed that the university students has been selected for the job by reputed Hotels and Restaurants. Farewell Party For Library Science Students At Desh Bhagat University

Desh Bhagat University Department of Library Science College in Punjab organised a Farewell Party for M. Lib,  B. Lib and D.Lib students with great fervour and joy. University Chancellor Dr. Zora Singh presided over the function and blessed the students for bright future.

A Colourful cultural programme was arranged on this occasion, in which students performed Solo and Group Dance, Bhangra, Gidha, Folk Song and Fun Games etc. To add more fun to the celebration, the outgoing students' precise commentary on their personalities were also enacted by their juniors as a token of love and honour. The Musical Chair Round was the main attraction of the party in which students and their teachers participated.

After diverse rounds of games and performance, Sandeep Kaur from B. Library & Information Science won the title of 'Miss Farewell' and Prabhjot Singh from B. Library & Information Science was selected as 'Mr. Farewell'. In other titles, Gurtej Kaur (M.Lib Science) got Miss Personality and Inderjot Singh (D.Lib Science) got Mr. Personality title. Amanjeet Kaur (M.Lib Science) was adjudged Student of The Year and Rupinder Kaur(M.Lib Science) was declared Topper of The Year .The party was highly enjoyed and appreciated by the students.

Pro-Chancellor Dr. Tajinder Kaur and Vice Chancellor Dr. Virinder Singh conveyed their best wishes to the students and emphasized that they should work hard for being successful in their future careers. Hod's and Staff members of different faculties were also present on the occasion.

Guest Lecture On ‘Ethics In Public Life And The Role Of Lokpal And Lokayukta' In Desh Bhagat University

Desh Bhagat University Faculty of Law organised a guest lecture on 'Ethics in Public Life and the Role of Lok Pal and Lok Ayukta’ to enhance the knowledge of the students. Lokpal of Punjab, Justice S. K. Mittal (Retd.) was the Chief Guest and the keynote speaker on this occasion. Students of all thelaw classes attended it. University Chancellor, Dr. Zora Singh welcomed the chief guest and all otherguests.

Speaking on the occasion, the Lokpal of Punjab, Honurable Justice S. K. Mittal (Retd.) said that India is a largest Democracy in the world and the institution of Lokayukta and Lokpal further strengthen it. He asserted that for corruption free society we have to take some bold steps. He also advocated that press should be strong and free enough to take a stand against every type of corruption. No doubt Good Governance, RTI, Transparency, Free Press,  Rule of Law etc. helps in curbing the problem of corruption but actually morals and behaviour of an individual plays an effective role. So, the need of hour is to take a pledge not to indulge in unlawful activities by giving and taking bribery, by undue preferences etc., he insisted.

While interacting with the students he congratulated the law students for choosing a challenging and noble profession. He said that the field of law is very challenging nowadays and every professional has to have good knowledge about various sections and provisions of country's laws. He also inspired the students to work hard and to adopt a professional approach to be successful. He said that a law professional has a lot of options to choose a career from, and good theoretical and practical knowledge is a must for law professionals.

The students evinced a keen interest in the lecture and during the interactive session, they asked numerous questions on the topic which the learned speaker answered to their entire satisfaction. During the programme, a short play, a quiz contest and debate were also held.

Pro Chancellor Dr. Tajinder Kaur thanked the chief guest and other guests for sparing  valuable time and sharing their views with the students. Vice Chancellor Dr. Virinder Singh said that such lecturesadd to the knowledge of the students and enhance their self-confidence. Among others, Directors of different faculties and Law faculty members were present on the occasion.

Desh Bhagat University Among Top Institutes Of India In Nirf/Mhrd Ranking-2017

Yoga Camp At Bhagat University

Desh Bhagat University organizing three day long Yoga Camp in the campus to teach yoga to the students, staff members and the general public. A large number of students from different faculties along with their teachers and university staff members are participating in it and learning basic and advance Postures (Aasan) of yoga. The camp was inaugurated by University Chancellor, Dr. Zora Singh. Speaking on the occasion he said that Yoga is very useful to keep ourselves healthy and fresh in this fast life of today.

While giving details, Pro Chancellor Dr. Tajinder Kaur said that the Yoga Guru Himalyan Rishi Swami Shiv Puri Ji gave the tips about various types of yoga to keep body and mind healthy and disease free. He also demonstrated many yogic postures and explained their benefits in detail. Pranayama, meditation and aasan are the special features of this camp.

The Yoga expert Swami Shiv Puri Ji said that Yoga is an inseparable part of Ayurveda and it integrates the body, soul and mind. He claimed that yoga cures many diseases like Obesity, Blood Pressure, Thyroid, Cervical, Migraine and Kidney problems etc.

The university develops this passion to give new career direction to the students as well. More than 500 persons participated in it and happily observed that they have got detailed knowledge about different aspects of yogic exercises. Director Dr. Kulbhushan, Director Dr. Surjeet Patheja , HoD's and staff members from different faculties were present on this occasion.

Innovation Entreprenureship Development Centre Established At Desh Bhagat University

Desh Bhagat University has carved out a niche for itself by establishing an Innovation Entrepreneurship Development Centre (IEDC) for the bright future of its students. A special progrmme was arranged to inaugurate the center. University Chancellor Dr. Zora Singh presided over the function asserted that we want to make our students future ready and this initiative will providethem firsthand knowledge, training and proper guidance to become an entrepreneurs. The EDP Cell has especially drafted several programmes to guide and trained them how to face with difficulties and pressure. The industry tycoons and experienced entrepreneurs will visit the campus from time to time to guide our students, he added. Vice Chancellor Dr. Virinder Singh welcomed all the guests.

Dr. Dinesh Dua, CXO, Nectar Life sciences Ltd. was the chief guest on this occasion. He appreciated the initiative taken by the university and said that the students must set their goal and try their best to achieve them. He insisted that they should not worry about the initial failures and get maximum practical knowledge. While giving examples of many young CEO’s of different companies like Facebook, Flipcart, Instragram, Reliance JIO and some others he encouraged them to think big and dream big. He also shared his life experinaces with the students.

Mr. Vijay Kumar, Director MSME, Development Institute, Ludhiana graced the occasion as guest of honour. While addressing the students he gave details about financial assistance being provided by MSME to micro and small industries of the country and fresh entrepreneurs’ as well. He said if you have unique idea and develops a product than you can establish your own entrepreneur and MSME will give you not only required guidance but financial help too. He also discussed about the Digital India and Make in India programmes started by the Centre Government.

Vice President Er. Sandeep Singh and Prof. Paul Douglas gave information about Equity Score (A USA based Company) app development Programme which the university has already started under Make in India programme.

During the interaction session, students asked relevant questions on different topics which the learned speakers answered their entire satisfaction. The guests also visited Student Entrepreneur Gallery, Equity Score Lab and EDP lab of the university situated in different departments.At the end, Pro Chancellor Dr. Tajinder Kaur proposed vote of thanks and expressed her happiness and appreciated the learned speakers for their valuable thoughts and suggestions.
