Desh Bhagat University Organises Boot Camp On Innovation And Enterpreneurship

In best university in Punjab, Desh Bhagat University’s IEDC department in collaboration with Punjab Information and Technology Corporation, Govt. of Punjab organized a ‘Boot Camp on Innovation and Entrepreneurship’ at its campus. Students from different faculties participated in it. This Boot camp was focused on creating awareness among students of various Government Schemes, interactive sessions with other start-ups, mentors etc. and the opportunity to network..


         University Chancellor Dr. Zora Singh and Pro Chancellor Dr. Tajinder Kaur inaugurated the event. They said that such events are source of major information from which students get a direction to showcase their skills, gets practical exposure and knowledge about new start ups. Mr. Sunil Chawla (DGM, Punjab Info Tech) was the Chief Guest on this occasion. He encouraged the students to develop New Ideas to fulfil their dream projects and get the benefits provided by the state government for their new start ups. He also briefed about the different projects recently started by the young entrepreneurs with the help of state government agencies. Mr. H. S. Cheema (MD, Cheema Boilers), Gurvinder Sohi (National Farmer Awardee) and Ashish Kaushik (Practitioner C.A) graced the event as special guests. They shared their experiences with the students and motivated them never to give in.


           










Earlier, the event began with Start Up Marathon in which students participated with full enthusiasm. Dr. Shalini Gupta (IEDC) informed that there was a competition among the startups in the field of entrepreneurship and innovation named 'The Idea Generation Competition' which was in association with Punjab Info-tech (Govt of Punjab). The students who came up with unique ideas were awarded with a prize money of Rs.5000, Rs.4000 & Rs. 3000 to 1st, 2nd & 3rd positions respectively and certification as well. Department of Fine Arts of the university arranged an exhibition showcasing creations of the students. Faculty of Hotel Management and Tourism organized the Vyanjan Celebration, demonstrated different kind of foods prepared by the students. Vice-Chancellor Dr. Virinder Singh appreciated the initiative of IEDC and appealed to the students to prove their talent through this kind of programmes. Vice-Principal Dr. Sanjiv Soni, Directors, HoD’S, Dr. Monika and staff members from different faculties were also present at the occasion.

Desh Bhagat University Celebrates World Health Day

In best universities in Punjab, Desh Bhagat University Faculty of Nursing celebrated World Health Day with full enthusiasm. Under this programme, the nursing students took part in different activities. The students organised a rally and went from door to door to make the people aware about heath care and its importance. Colourful banners and placards with awareness messages like, Health for All, Universal Health Coverage: Everyone, Everywhere, Health is Wealth and Healthy Body Healthy Mind, Eat Healthy Be Active etc. were carried by the students to educate the residents.


University Chancellor Dr. Zora Singh and Pro Chancellor Dr. Tajinder Kaur said that such programmes are very helpful for the people, especially living in rural areas because it helps in making them aware. Vice-Chancellor Dr. Virinder Singh also appreciated the initiative taken by the students of Nursing.








 Director Faculty of Nursing Ms. Suraj Mathew said that this year World Health Organisation (WHO) is focusing on awareness about Health for All.  On the theme a motivational and inspirational lecture was arranged at the institute.













She informed that our students also distributed pictorial pamphlets to spread awareness about Health & fitness and other diseases among the local residents and surrounding areas. The students motivated them to keep away from all kinds of drugs and also exhorted them to make others aware. Students also participated in Rangoli, Poster making and quiz competitions. The students presented a role play on Health & Diet. Students of M.Sc. Nursing, Post basic Nursing, B.Sc. Nursing, GNM and ANM performed excellently during the play.

Govt. Of India Grants 9 Mds Seats To Desh Bhagat Dental College & Hospital Mandi Gobindgarh

Desh Bhagat Dental College & Hospital, Mandi Gobindgarh, a constituent of Desh Bhagat University has got permission to admit students in MDS Course for the academic session 2018-19. The Dental Council of India (DCI) & Government of India (Ministry of Health & Family Welfare) have approved the proposal of Desh Bhagat Dental College for granting 9 seats in Master of Dental Surgery (MDS) course to meet the higher education needs of the Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) graduates.


Disclosing this, Dr. Zora Singh, Chairman, Desh Bhagat United said, ‘The Central Government has accepted the recommendation of DCI and conveyed its approval to allow admitting the batch of students in MDS course in the specialty of Orthodontics & Dentofacial Orthopedics (2 seats), Conservative Dentistry & Endodontics (2 seats), Prosthodontics and crown & Bridge (2 seats) vide letter number No.V.12017/10/2017-DE(Pt.VI) dt. 27.2.2018 and Periodontology (3 seats) vide Letter No.V.12017/10/2017-DE(Pt.V) dt. 21.2.2018, for the academic session 2018-19. The Govt of Punjab gave the accent for 9 MDS seats vide letter No.2/59/2016-3MER-III/1310 dt.19.3.2018.

However the counseling for these seats will be done by Baba Farid University of Health Sciences on 5 April 2018 for all post graduate dental institutes of the state including those of private universities. He further told that DBDC & H after shifting from Sri Muktsar Sahib to Mandi Gobindgarh in the campus of DBU is affiliated to Desh Bhagat University.


 Dr. Singh expressed his gratitude to the Government of India & DCI and Govt. of Punjab for granting the approval. He congratulated the Management, Principal, Staff and Students of the Institute for this achievement and also thanked all those who extended their support to this endeavour.

World Oral Health Day Celebrated at Desh Bhagat Dental College & Hospital

Desh Bhagat Dental College and Hospital (DBDCH), a constituent of Desh Bhagat University, in best universities in Punjab (DBU) celebrated World Oral Health Day with fervour. A special program was organized to celebrate the day, in which students of different classes of BDS and MDS and staff members took part in it.



University Chancellor Dr. Zora Singh presided over the function. While speaking on the occasion Dr. Singh said that oral health is the mirror of the body, hence maintaining oral health improves overall health. He emphasized the importance of preventive care of oral cavity as this improves overall health of individual.




Principal Dr. Manish Kumar gave brief history of World Oral Health Day that it was FDI (International Dental Federation) who started the initiative in 2013 to celebrate 20th March as World Oral Health Day.


 The theme for 2018-2020 is ‘Say Ahh-Talk Mouth Talk Health’ highlighting two way relationship of oral health and general health.




In other part of the event, the dental students participated in Poster Making, Slogan Writing, Selfie and Advertising Competition. In slogan Competition, Manpreet Kaur was adjudged First, Simranjeet Kaur Second and Baljinder Kaur got Third Prize.




In Poster Making: Priya received First, Harpreet Kaur Sran Second and Shikha Chauhan got Third Prize. In Selfie Competition, Simarjeet was declared First and Tarandeep Kaur got Second position. In Advertisement- Tarandeep and Umerhani secured first while Yogender got second position.




Vice Principal Dr. Sanjiv Soni proposed vote of thanks. Reader Dr. Rajbir Kaur Informed that the Department of public health dentistry organized two dental camps at different places on the same day. Staff and Faculty members were also present at the occasion.

A Guest Lecture on Narcotics and Drugs at Desh Bhagat University

In best university in Punjab, Desh Bhagat University’s Bhai Kanhaiya Ji NSS Department in association with Punjab Police, District Fatehgarh Sahib organised a guest lecture on the evil of Narcotics and Drugs. A large number of students and staff members from different faculties attended it.


While giving details, Pro chancellor Dr. Tajinder Kaur said that the event was arranged to create awareness against Drug Abuse among youth under the state Government’s DAPO (Drug Abuse Prevention Officer) scheme. S. Jaspreet Singh, IAS (SDM, Amloh) and Manpreet Singh DSP, Amloh were the key note speakers on the occasion. Vice Chancellor Dr. Virinder Singh welcomed all the guests and the audience.


While interacting with the students, SDM S. Jaspreet Singh, IAS said that Drug addiction is a dark spot on the image of state of Punjab, we have to adopt a firm stand against all kinds of drugs, so that we may protect and save our holy state. He exhorted the students to keep away from all kinds of drugs and come forward to vanish this menace from the society.


DSP Manpreet Singh said that Drugs is the major reason behind most of the crimes and youth are more vulnerable in the society. We have to keep highly aware our students against drugs from the very beginning so that they can be protected from this curse. He urged the students and youth to come forward against drugs to make Punjab a healthy and rich state.


The speakers also informed about the DAPO Program of the state government (the module that will not only fight against drug abuse but will also work for the rehabilitation of the addicts). The event was followed by a range of queries put forward by the students to which the learned speakers aptly replied.In best university in Punjab, Desh Bhagat University Pro Vice chancellor, Dr. Neelima Jerath proposed vote of thanks and hope the event will prove fruitful for the society. Desh Bhagat University Organises Kisan Mela

Desh Bhagat University’s IEDC department organised first of its kind Kisan Mela in the Campus. The event was organized by Agriculture and Food processing incubator of DBU-IEDC. The event provided a platform to the farmers and agricultural experts to interact and share their knowledge about latest techniques, equipments and subsidiary occupations.



In best University in Punjab Desh Bhagat University Chancellor, Dr. Zora Singh and Pro Chancellor Dr. Tajinder Kaur inaugurated this Mega Event. Speaking on the occasion they hoped that this Kisan Mela will prove a blessing for the farmers and students of agriculture courses.






Dr. Manjit Singh Kang (Former VC, PAU) was the Keynote Speaker. Speaking on the occasion Dr. Kang said that Farming is a profitable business if we do it with latest techniques and proper planning. He also advised the farmers to follow the directions of PAU Experts which they give from time to time for the better productions. He also advised the farmers to get full knowledge about production of crops, its processing and marketing to gain better profit.





Punjab Agriculture Development Chairman Darshan Singh Babbi urged the farmers to make cooperative societies for better return of the crops.

Dr. Shalini Gupta (IEDC) informed that Dr. Malvinder Singh (Syngenta India Ltd.) , Dr. R. Raju (Mahindra Pvt. Ltd), Manpreet Singh Garewal (President, PAU Kisan Club) and Amrinder Poonia graced the occasion as Guest of Honour.





The experts of different fields like Organic Farming, Mushroom Farming, Food Processing, Honey Bee Farming, Poultry Farming and self help groups shared their experiences with the audience, farmers and students.


On this occasion stalls of various brands and products attracted attention of everyone. These stalls demonstrated Solar Energy Equipments, Hi tech Farming Machines, the products like organic wheat, pulses, seeds, Ayurvedic and Herbal Products. The response of the audience was excellent to many Exhibitions cum Sale stalls of different products.




Other attractions of the event were the performances of Giddha, Bhangra, Manipuri Dance, Malwai Gidha and Singing by the individuals and teams of Girls and Boys.
Vice-Chancellor Dr. Virinder Singh and Pro Vice Chancellor Dr. Neelima Jerath thanked all the guests to spare their valuable time for the event. The event ended with leaving behind ever lasting memories. Registrar Dr. Kulbhushan, Dr. Surjit Patheja, Dr. H. K. Sidhu and HoD’S and staff members from different faculties were also present at the occasion.
