Free Medical Check-Up Camp Series Will Continue : Dr. Zora Singh

Desh Bhagat University, top rank university in Punjab will continue the series of free medical camps to make people aware about health and fitness, which was started in the month of March this year, told Dr. Zora Singh, Chancellor Desh Bhagat University. Under this series, the medical teams of Desh Bhagat Hospital and Desh Bhagat Dental College are jointly arranging free medical camps at different places from time to time, he added.

Director Dr. Kulbhushan, while giving details, disclosed that under this series a free medical camp was organized at Gurudwara Singh Sabha, Village Salani. The team of doctors consisting of Dr. Gulzar Singh (SMO), Dr. Baljeet Singh (CMO), Dr. Nishant Paika (Medical Officer), team of Dental Doctors Dr. Sukhpreet Kaur, Dr. Tarun and Dr. Kamal along with the Physiotherapy specialist Dr. Anna examined more than 100 patients.Earlier, the same team examined more than 150 patients at Gurudwara Sahib, Majri Kishne Wali, Amloh. He also informed that the patients were examined and given necessary medical assistance. Medicines were provided free of cost and some tests were also done free of cost during the camp. The medical teams also advised the people about proper eating habits, avoid eating unripe and unhygienic fruits and also keep away from junk food.

Sarpanch Harjinder Kaur, Ex-Sarpanch Raghbinder Singh and Sanjay Salani from village Salani, Bhagwan Dass (Superintendent, Maghi Memorial College, Amloh), Netra Singh (Pardhan Gurudwara Committee), Harwinder Singh (Panchayat member) and Malkit Singh appreciated the initiative taken by the Desh Bhagat University, best private university in Punjab.Desh Bhagat Dental College Principal Dr. Rajiv Bali said that the patients were highly pleased and contented with the treatment and facilities provided by DBU, top rank university in Punjab during the medical camp. Desh Bhagat University Celebrates International Yoga Day

‘Yoga can transform New Energy, Enthusiasm and Positive thinking in us and our Youth have to adopt Yoga for holistic development of their personalities’, said Desh Bhagat University Chancellor Dr. Zora Singh. He was speaking on the inaugural ceremony of International Day of Yoga organised by the University. The District level programme was organised in collaboration with Ayush Department, Punjab and District Ayurvedic and Unani office, Fatehgarh Sahib.

Director Dr. Kulbhushan informed that more than 650 participants attended the early morning session with full enthusiasm. The event was started with the live telecast of PM Narender Modi's Yoga Day Celebration from Lucknow. Yoga Trainer Dr. Jaswant Singh, Dr. Rajan Kaushal( Medical Officer) Dr. Anil Joshi and Dr. Dheer (District Ayurvedic Officer) gave the knowledge of various types of yoga and demonstrated various postures that are beneficial for all age groups.

Dr. Poonam Vashist (District Ayurvedic Officer) was special guest on this ocassion who said that said it’s a proud moment for us that today Yoga has attained a new identity all over the world. Dr. Harinder Kaur (Civil Surgeon, Fatehgarh Sahib) graced the occasion as guest of honour said Yoga practice makes us strong  internally as well as externally .

Earlier, Vice-Chancellor Dr. Virinder Singh while welcoming all the guests and participants said that Yoga is very useful to keep ourselves healthy and stress free in this life of hurry and worry.A large number of students, eminent personalities belonging to different areas participated in it, expressed their happiness saying that Yoga has transformed a new energy in them. The students who have won positions in different categories of Yoga Competition were also honoured.

Pro Chancellor Dr. Tajinder Kaur, while proposing vote of thanks exhorted all the people of the country particularly the youth to adopt Yoga as a way of life. She further declared that Yoga and Meditation will be make compulsory subject for all Desh Bhagat University students. The university offers B.Sc Naturopathy and Yogic Science among other ayurveda courses in India.

Quiz Competition For Ayurveda Students at Desh Bhagat University

Quiz is one of the easiest and most interesting methods to enhance knowledge and to sharpen brain skills. It also helps the students to learn and understand some complicated issues in a simple way, said Desh Bhagat University Vice-Chancellor Dr. Virinder Singh. He was presiding over the prize distribution event of Quiz Competition held at Faculty of  pg school of ayurveda. He awarded an amount of Rs. 1100 to the first prize winner team and Rs. 500 to the runner up team along with certificates.

              While giving details, Director Dr. Kulbhushan said that the Charak Ayur Quiz was organized to acquaint the students with the important topics of ayurveda and research. Students of different ayurveda courses participated in it and showed their skills. The competition was divided into two categories, individual and team zone. After different rounds of the quiz, six teams of the students entered in the finals. The final was bit tough but was highly interesting, as the brain teasing and buzzer round brought the teams very close to each other at Score board. Finally, the team consisted of Isha and Kirandeep Kaur took the lead by scoring 95 points and they were declared the winners. The team which got second position with 90 points consisted of Shabnam and Anudeepa.

The students who performed well under different categories were also awarded the certificates of merit. Their names are Sakshi , Shubham, Ruchi, Damandeep Kaur, Ankush, Gurbaj singh, Harsha and Sargam. Dbu Chancellor Dr. Zora Singh Presiding Over A National Seminar In New Delhi

Change in our country’s Education System and its pattern is the need of the hour and the education that does not impart values to the students can't be called successful & progressive. These views were expressed by Desh Bhagat University Chancellor, Dr. Zora Singh. He was speaking in a seminar ‘Higher Education and Research: Issues and Challenges for Change in India’ organised recently in India International Centre, New Delhi. While further elaborating his views Dr. Singh said that India has 3rd largest education system in the whole world, needs educational reforms to become world leader in the context of the fast changing global scenario. Desh Bhagat University Celebrated International Nurses Day

Faculty of Nursing at Desh Bhagat amongst Top Nursing Colleges in Punjab celebrated International Nurses Day with great fervour. A special function was organized to mark the day. University Chancellor Dr. Zora Singh inaugurated the event. Speaking on the occasion, he said that International Nurses Day is marked every year to celebrate the contributions to society and medical care made by nurses around the world.

 The date was chosen as Florence Nightingale's birth anniversary – to celebrate the 'lady with the lamp' who nursed wounded soldiers during the Crimean War, and whose progressive ideas and reforms influenced the nature of modern-day nursing. He appreciated the initiative taken by the nursing students.

 A health awareness programme was arranged by the Nursing students at DBU, top rank university in Punjab. Giving more details about it, Director Faculty of Nursing Dr. Ramandeep Dhillon said that nursing students took part in different activities. The students organised a door to door campaign to create awareness among people regarding Drugs, Diabetes, Cancer, Epilepsy and other different diseases. The students distributed pictorial pamphlets to spread awareness among school students, local residents and surrounding areas of Amloh and Fatehgarh Sahib.

 The students also urged the people to keep their surroundings clean and green and grow maximum number of trees. At campus, students presented a colourful cultural programme and also performed a role play on Nursing profession.

Later, the students who had made excellent performance in events like awareness activities, quiz contest, poster making, speech contest and other competitions were honoured. Vice-Chancellor Dr. Virinder Singh also appreciated the move and said that such programmes are very helpful for the people, especially for the rural area people who will get to know more information and they would take precautions as it is well said and accepted that Precaution is Better than Cure. Vice Principal Deepak Shandilya, Faculty and staff members of nursing was also present on the occasion.
