Ayurveda and Research Seminar In Punjab

 Desh Bhagat University Organises Seminar For Ayurvedic Students

Desh Bhagat University Faculty of Ayurveda and Research orgnaised a Seminar-cum-CME (Continuing Medical Education) programe entitled ‘Scope of Ayurveda-Today and Tomorrow’.  The event was organised in collaboration with Jiva Ayurveda, Faridabad (Haryana), in which students of different classes participated. University Pro-Chancellor Ms. Tajinder Kaur, while inaugurating the event said that treatment of so many diseases through Ayurveda is quite worthwhile as it dominates preventive aspects.

Dr. Keshav Chauhan, Senior Ayurveda Expert at JIVA and other officials of the company who were especially present on the occasion interacted with the students and informed them about importance of Ayurveda System in today’s era. Mr. Firoz Alam, (Human Resource Department JIVA gave presentation about JIVA Ayurveda . He said that this event is a part of company’s Continuous Medical Education Programme. A quiz competition ‘Ayurwhiz’ was also organized wherein students interacted with representatives of the company and sought their queries. Winners of this contest will represent the institute in next round.

On this occasion 'Jivaka' and 'Ayurvisharada' Awards and cash rewards along with certificates were given to the meritorious students named Neha Thakur , Shikha and Gaganpreet Kaur who had stood first, second and third respectively in BAMS Final Professional examinations.

Chancellor Dr. Zora Singh appreciated the JIVA Ayurveda for its generous contribution to the development of Ayurveda. Vice Chancellor Dr. Virinder Singh in his address emphasized the need to adopt Ayurvedic System to live a long and healthy life. He also talked about the long healthy relationship of the institute with the company. Media and Journalism Department of Desh Bhagat University organized a one-day Inter-Varsity Media Festival ''Rayon De Soleil''(Sun Beam). Students from different campuses like Punjabi University Patiala, Chitkara University Chandigarh and Khalsa College Amritsar participated in it.

 The event was inaugurated by University Pro Chancellor Ms. Tajinder Kaur. She exhorted the Media students  to come as entrepreneurs in Media and take live projects.  Social Activist Mr. Kmaljeet Singh Gill was chief guest on this occasion who motivated the students to contribute in the progress of country and society.

During the Media Fest the students show cased their talent and creative skills in different competitions like Short Play, Singing, Bhangra, Giddha, Collage Making, Cartoon Sketching, Short Film , Mimicry, Radio Jockey and Karaoke etc.

After tough competition, the Final of all competitions were particularly interesting. During individual performances, results are as under, in News Anchoring-Sonam (Chitkara University), in Radio Jockey- Anmol (Chitkara University) in Karaoke-Jasmine (Chitkara University), in Mimicry-Rahul (Desh Bhagat University), In Photography Satwinder Singh (Khalsa College, Amritsar) and in Singing-Mohammad Parvez (Punjabi University) grabbed First prize.

On the other hand, in teams’ competitions, in Collage making Chitkara University won the trophy, In Cartoon Sketching Khalsa College stood first, In short film category Punjabi University Patiala annexed the trophy and in short play Khalsa College, Amritsar won first position. The highlight of the cultural event was Bhangra & Giddha competitions. In fully packed seminar hall each team performed excellent and enthralled the audience. Finally, Punjabi University Patiala won Gold in Bhangra & Giddha. The winners were honoured with the prizes. The students of host institute and guest students enjoyed the whole event at the fullest. Vice Chancellor Dr. Virinder Singh thanked all the guests & media persons and appreciated the artistic creations of the students.

If You Can Dream You Can Achieve : DILBAGH SINGH

A motivational guest lecture was organised at Desh Bhagat University on ‘Paradigm Shift’. Large number of students from different faculties and teaching staff attended it. The programme was arranged by Training and Placement Department of the university. The learned speaker on this occasion was Mr. Dilbagh Singh, Director, Brain Power Services Ltd., Chandigarh.

While addressing the students and faculty members, he exhorted them to set your goals and achieve them and always be clear about the path which you hav to follow to achieve them.  He said that the path towards our goals may not always run smoothly or be easy, but having goals, whether big or small, is part of what makes life good. It gives us a sense of meaning and purpose, points us in the direction we want to go and gets us interested and engaged, all of which are good for our overall happiness. Your passion and commitment are the way to success. So, if you can dream you can achieve your goals, he added. Dbu

The learned speaker said that success always walks with everyone but due to circumstances, lack of vision and management techniques, it seems elusive. In his two hour power packed lecture, he discussed several points and shared his views regarding how to overcome obstacles and how to achieve success. He also advised the students to improve their communication skills and keep themselves updated from time to time

The students evinced a keen interest in the lecture and during the interaction session, they asked relevant questions on different topics which the learned speaker answered to their entire satisfaction. The students and staff members were quite happy to attend this lecture and said the views expressed by the speaker have boosted their morale to do big in life.

University Chancellor Dr. Zora Singh and Pro Chancellor Ms. Tajinder Kaur expressed their happiness and appreciated the learned speaker for his valueable thoughts and said that such events are very useful for students and this will help in their multifunctional growth. At the end, Vice Chancellor Dr. Virinder Singh proposed vote of thanks and hoped that the lecture will prove quite useful for the students as well as the faculty members.

Mahi Gill Regales Desh Bhagat University Students

Desh Bhagat University Faculty of Media Entertainment and Film Technology arranged an interaction of its students with the cast of the soon to be released Punjabi Film "Aatishbazi Ishq ". Famous Bollywood actress Mahi Gill who is in lead role and producer of this film also, came to the university, along with her full team including co-star Ravinder, Music Director R. Sheen, Writer Jagjit. S. Saini and others. The team had come for the promotion of their film and they regaled the students of the university with dialogues and songs of the upcoming movie.

University Vice-Chancellor Dr. Virinder Singh welcomed Mahi Gill and other artists with bouquets and conveyed them his best wishes for the success of their newly coming film. Speaking about her new film, Mahi Gill said that this is a love-drama-comedy movie and the music of this film has already gained lot of popularity among the Punjabis. Interacting with the students, Mahi Gill and Actor Ravinder observed that the story of this film is very interesting and it will be liked by people of every age and every section of the society. When they performed on the songs of this film, the students enjoyed these so much that they started dancing out of joy. Anshu Sahni( famous with the name Preeto) also entertained the students with their old and new funny jokes.

University Chancellor Dr. Zora Singh and Pro Chancellor Ms. Tajinder Kaur wished good luck to the film team and said that Punjabi Films have made a respectable place in the film world and the need of the hour is to make such films as can entertain as well as educate the viewers and give right direction to the society.

Guest Lecture on Shri Guru Gobind Singh Ji at Desh Bhagat University

Desh Bhagat University Organised a guest lecture on “Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji and his Contribution to Indian Culture” in connection with 350th birth anniversary (Parkash Utsav) of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji . A large number of students and teachers from different faculties attended it. While presiding over the function, university Pro-Chancellor Ms. Tajinder Kaur said that our life without Guru Ji’s teachings will not be worth living at all and we must give it due importance in our life . Guru Ji’s life is an epic of sacrifices and he sacrificed his everything including his father, mother and children to uphold the human dignity and the high values of life.  for the sake of our society.

The keynote speaker on this occasion was renowned scholar Dr. H. S. Bedi (Former Professor, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar), who said, ‘Sri Guru Gobind Singh ji was a Spiritual Master, A warrior, A Poet and A Philosopher’. He has good command & knowledge of more than 7 Indian languages. He highlighted the importance of Guru Ji’s teachings, his contribution to society and literature. By forming of Khalsa he creates a warrior community who is always ready to protect down trodden, women, humanity, our country and more over animals. His teachings are like a torch, which always shows us path whenever we are in darkness or in catastrophe. Speaking about his literary and music work he said his literary work is highly inspiring, motivated and educative.

Dr. Ruby Dhalla, Ex MP, Canada graced the occasion as Chief Guest. While speaking on the occasion she exhorted the students to follow the path shown by our Guru Sahibans. She encouraged the students to adopt positive attitude in every field of life. She said that if you have positive approach, then no one can harm you and you will get what you deserve. She also shared her experiences about her journey to Canadian parliament.

Vice chancellor Dr. Virinder Singh, while proposing vote of thanks highly appreciated views of both the guests.  He said that this programe focuses our attention on the teachings of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji, which is our most important need today in the context of the fast changing global scenario. Directors and HoD’s of different faculties were also present on this occasion. They expressed the hope that it will prove quite useful for the students and staff members.

World Tourism Day Celebrations AT Desh Bhagat University

Desh Bhagat University Department of Airlines Tourism and Hospitality Management (ATHM) celebrated World Tourism Day in a special manner. In this two day long programme, students of ATHM classes participated with full enthusiasm.  The event was inaugurated by Vice Chancellor Dr. Virinder Singh. As part of this programme, students undertook a drive to create awareness regarding cleanliness, universal brotherhood and maintenance of our historical monuments, which are the main spots of attraction for tourists in India.

On the second day, students participated in various events like Face Painting, Flower Arrangements, Chart Making, Making Models of Monuments, Collage Making, Power Point Presentation (PPT) and Quiz Competition etc. Highlight of the final day programme was Cultural events. Students presented/formed Gujrati, Punjabi, Bengali and Himachali folk songs, wearing traditional dresses which enthralled the audience. DBU

University Chancellor, Dr. Zora Singh while presiding over the prize distribution function addressed the students and enlightened them about various aspects of Tourism and importance of World Tourism Day. Pro-Chancellor Ms. Tajinder Kaur emphasized that the deep rooted relationship between tourism and our cultural assets should be fully recognized and highlighted. Both of them appreciated the performances of the students and the arrangements done by the faculty members. They also gave awards the students who performed exceptionally well.

Director Faculty of Hotel Management and Tourism Amit Sachdeva hoped that these students will do their best to promote tourism in India.  All the students who were in a jolly mood said that with this programe, they have got a chance to know about so many new things and gained a lot of fresh knowledge.

Desh Bhagat University Celebrates Birth Anniversary Of Shaheed-E-Azam Sardar Bhagat Singh

Desh Bhagat University celebrated 109th birth anniversary of Shaheed-E-Azam Sardar Bhagat Singh with all respect and fervour. A special function was organized by Faculty of Engineering and Technology to celebrate, in which staff and students from different faculties participated with full enthusiasm.

The programme was started with lighting the lamp and paying floral tributes to Sardar Bhagat Singh. While addressing, Chancellor Dr. Zora Singh urged the students to learn from Bhagat Singh’s life who fought for the freedom of the country till his last breath. Dr. Singh said that the name of this University and other Institutions was kept 'Desh Bhagat' to commemorate the sacrifices of the patriots and martyrs of India. Pro-Chancellor Ms. Tajinder Kaur said that Desh Bhagat University celebrated the anniversary of Bhagat Singh to inculcate patriotism, dedication, sincerity & love for our motherland amongst the students. Vice Chancellor Dr. Virinder Singh highlighted various aspects of the great leader’s life, which has only one motive to free his motherland from British rule. Dbu

On this occasion students participated in different competition and explored their caliber in events like Skit, Singing, Debate and Dance etc. A short play on the life of Sardar Bhagat Singh was also performed by the students. The highlight of the event was Turban Knot competition in which more than 150 students participated. Later, the winners of different competitions were honoured with prizes.
