Desh Bhagat University Chancellor Meets Jharkhand Chief Minister

‘Government of Jharkhand is focusing on creation of quality education ecosystem in different sectors like and we are all set to take each and every step for this purpose, said Sh. Raghubar Das, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Jharkhand while interacting with Desh Bhagat University Chancellor Dr. Zora Singh . Chancellor Dr. Singh was in Ranchi to attend first of its kind ‘Jharkhand Higher & Skill Education Summit’ on exploring the possibilities of investment in Jharkhand. The programme was organised by Department of Higher and Technical Education, Jharkhand.



Giving details of his meet with CM of Jharkhand, Dr. Singh said that CM Sh. Raghubar Das appreciated the contribution of Desh Bhagat University in the field of higher education and social services. The meeting provides an opportunity to exchange views, learn new perspectives, form new alliances, learn the latest proven approaches, regulations and trends. and ensure that our institutions remain competitive in the global environment of higher education.


Dr. Singh informed that he also talked with Ajoy Kumar Singh, Secretary, Department of Higher & Technical Education, Skill Development, Govt. of Jharkhand.  Mr. Ajoy Singh exhorted that the State of Jharkhand has embarked upon the journey of making the state a Knowledge Hub in the country in coming years and well established educational institutes/organisations can contribute in the fast /rapid progress of the state.

18th Punjab Science Congress Begins At Desh Bhagat University

The 18th Punjab Science Congress began at Desh Bhagat University today with full fervour and zest. The three day event is being organised in collaboration with Punjab Academy of Sciences under the theme "Innovative Trends of Science & Technology in Current Scenario”. A large number of Scientists, Research Scholars, Teachers, Students and representatives of Industry from all over Punjab and some other states are participating in this event.

Welcoming the chief guest, other guests and delegates University Chancellor Dr. Zora Singh said that during this three day event, participant will be presenting their research papers and posters in Agriculture Sciences, Food & Sugar Technologies, Bio Sciences, Mathematical Sciences, Nanotechnology, Medical, Veterinary and Pharmaceutical Sciences, all branches of Engineering and  Technology.  Speaking on the occasion he stressed the need for more active participation of youth in scientific research and development programmes to make our country stronger in the field of science and technology.
While inaugurating the event, Dr. S. K. Salwan (Chairman, Armament Research Board, Ministry of Defence, Govt. of India) asserted that science is the basis of our life and we must adopt scientific thinking if we want to keep pace with the rest of the world.

Dr. R.C. Sobti, (Vice-Chancellor, Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University, Lucknow) delivered the inaugural address and urged the scientists to develop latest techniques and innovative projects to benefit every section of the society. He also appreciated the initiative taken by the university in organizing this event. Dr. Santokh S. Badesha (Executive Director, Xerox Corporation, USA) was the key-note speaker on this occasion. Earlier, University Vice Chancellor Dr. Shalini Gupta apprised the audience about the important contribution being made by Desh Bhagat University in imparting professional and technical education in the state.
Presiding over the function, Dr. S.S. Gosal, (President, the Punjab Academy of Sciences) explained the objectives of the academy and shared his views with the students on a number of scientific subjects. Dr. I. J.S. Bansal (Founder President, Punjab Academy of Sciences) and Dr. S.S. Gill (Former Vice Chancellor, Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, Faridkot) graced the inaugural function as guests of honour.

On this occasion, Dr. Manmohan Singh (Cardiologist, Rajindra Hospital, Patiala) was honoured with Bhagwan Das Arora Oration Award. Dr. Raj Bahadur (Vice Chancellor, Baba Farid University of Health Science, Faridkot) was honoured with Desh Bhagat Sardar Lal Singh Oration Award. Dr. R.K. Kohli (Vice Chancellor, Central University, Bathinda), Dr. Kuldeep Singh Dhindsa, (Chemistry), Dr. T.S. Kaler (Cardiologist), Dr.Neelam Kaler (Neonatologists), were honoured with Honorary Fellowship. NRI Mr. Jujhar Singh from Hong Kong was honoured with first Desh Bhagat Rattan Award for his exemplary honesty. He returned to its rightful owner's precious stones worth One Lakh Hong Kong Dollars which were left in a bag in his shop, showing his immaculate character and making all Punjabis and Indians proud.
While proposing a vote of thanks, Pro Chancellor Tejinder Kaur expressed pleasure over the overwhelming response the event has got from delegates and hoped that the faculty and the students of DBU will benefit a lot from this sciencecongress. Registrar Dr. Virinder Singh, Organising Secretary of the event and Director Academic Dr. Rajesh Goyal, directors of different university faculties, members of the staff and a large number of students were present on this occasion.

In the best university in Punjab and in the top universities in India, Desh Bhagat University organized 18th Punjab Science Congress on the theme "Innovative Trends of Science & Technology in Current Scenario” in collaboration with Punjab Academy of Sciences. A large number of Scientists, Research Scholars, Teachers, Students and representatives of Industry from all over Punjab and some other states participated in this three-day long event.

University Chancellor Dr. Zora Singh and Pro-Chancellor Tejinder Kaur inaugurated the final day events. While speaking on the occasion, they appreciated the talent of young scientists and insisted that Smart Techniques, Smart Vision and Smart Ideas of our young scientists can take our country to new heights in every field of life.

On this occasion, Dr. K.K Raina, (Vice-Chancellor, Dehradun University of Technology, Dehradun) was the chief guest. He asserted that the objective of scientific research should be the betterment of society, not to harm anybody. According to him, the proper use of science can solve all our problems and make our life very easy, comfortable and fruitful.

Prof. Jai Roop Singh (Ex-Vice Chancellor of Central University, Bathinda and Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar) appreciated the models and posters displayed by the research scholars and scientists. Speaking on the occasion Dr. R.L.Mittal, (Principal, Medical College, Patiala ) emphasized the importance of science in everyday life and exhorted the students to study science subjects with deep interest. The selected projects in all five categories were honored with special awards. The abstracts of all the research papers presented during the congress were published by the university in the form of a book titled "Innovative Trends of Science & Technology in Current Scenario”. On this occasion, Ms. Harjeevan Kaur, Mr. Sandeep Singh, Dr. Ashok Kumar, Ms. Nitiya K. Dogra, and Dr. Balwinder Raj were honored with Young Scientist Awards.
During the valedictory function, Dr. S.S. Gosal, (President, Punjab Academy of Sciences) and Tarlok Singh (Secretary) stated that the objective of this event was to encourage the students to opt for science studies and take the country ahead in the field of science and technology.
While giving more details, University Vice-Chancellor Dr. Shalini Gupta and Pro vice-chancellor Dr. Shantnu Chatterjee informed that during these three days, participants presented their projects and research work in different areas. During this event, Prof. Tarlochan Singh Thind Prof. Emeritus, PAU Ludhiana, Dr. (Mrs.) Gurinderjit Randhawa (Principal Scientist, Genomic Resources Division, New Delhi), Prof. M.I.S Saggoo ( Dean Research, Punjabi University Patiala), Dr. P.S. Soni (Ex-Principal, Govt. College, Ropar), Dr. Nathu Ram Dhaliwal (Chemistry Dept., Punjabi University, Patiala), Prof. Kewal Krishan (HoD, Dept. of Pharmacy, Punjabi University, Patiala), Dr. Manoj Kumar ( Physics Department, Thapar University , Patiala), Dr. Rajan Gaur ( Dept. of Anthropology Punjab University , Chandigarh) and Dr. Baldev Kumar (Dept. of Chemistry, Punjabi University, Patiala) also shared their views and appreciated the contribution made by participants. Registrar Dr. Virinder Singh expressed that the event will prove quite useful for the students, particularly young scientists and the teachers as well. The students were enthusiastic to participate in this program and expressed their satisfaction for attaining fresh knowledge about new trends in technology. In the end, Organising Secretary of the event and Director Academic Dr. Rajesh Goyal thanked all the guests.

22nd Punjab Children Science Congress Begins At Desh Bhagat University In The Top Universities In India

In the best university in Punjab and in the top universities in India, Desh Bhagat University is organizing 22nd Punjab Children Science Congress on the theme "Understanding Weather and Climate" in collaboration with Punjab State Council for Science and Technology, Chandigarh. School students from all districts of Punjab are participating in this three-day event. Inaugurating the first day the program, University Chancellor Dr. Zora Singh and Pro-Chancellor Tejinder Kaur urged the students to adopt scientific temperament and remain ever active to innovate and discover something new. Presiding over the function, Chief Guest, Dr. Arvind (Professor in Physics and Dean Research and Development, Indian Institute of Science Education and Research, Mohali) shared his views with the students on a number of scientific subjects and said that making consistent efforts to know about the things so far unknown is science. However, the field of science is always expanding and at present very good atmosphere for scientific research is available to the students of today. By giving a number of examples, he explained to the students that just as a young child is always endeavoring to know something new, in the same way, a scientist always tries to find out something new. The students evinced a keen interest in his lecture and they asked relevant questions on different topics which he answered very aptly. Director Faculty of Engineering Dr. Pardeep Singh Cheema appreciated the learned speaker for his valuable thoughts and said that such events are very useful for students and this will help in their multi-functional growth. Council representative informed that as many as 30 projects and 26 from junior category were presented by 11 districts.   University Vice-Chancellor Dr. Shalini Gupta, Registrar Dr. Virinder Singh, Examination Controller Dr. I.S. Sethi, Principals and Teacher from different schools were present on this occasion.
