It was a Fun and Frolic Day at Desh Bhagat University in
best university in Punjab and in top universities in India. The occasion was
‘Diwali Fete’ organized by IEDC department of the university. The fete
presented healthy entertainment and symbols of rich Traditional Culture and Heritage
of our country.
University Chancellor Dr. Zora Singh, Pro Chancellor Dr.
Tajinder Kaur and Vice Chancellor Dr. Varinder Singh inaugurated the mega event
by lamp lighting ceremony. In inauguration speech Pro Chancellor Dr. Tejinder
Kaur said that such event proves a source of knowledge and recreation, from
which the youth get a direction to prove their skills, gets practical exposure
and information about our rich heritage and culture. “Go green, plant trees
this Diwali instead of burning crackers” she said.
More than 1000 students from different government and
private schools were invited by Desh Bhagat University on this occasion. Many
arrangements like roller coaster ride, swings and seesaws organized by
university for students and they also enjoyed verity of fun games. University
students participated with full zeal and exhibited their talents through
artwork, modeling, singing and dancing competitions etc. On this occasion stall
of Ayurvedic and Herbal Products attracted attention of everyone which
demonstrated products like Aloeveera Juice, Gel, Shamoo, Soaps, Tonics,
Chawayanprash etc.
The response of the audience was excellent to 50 Exhibition
cum Sale stalls of different products like Paintings, Decorative Articles,
Phulkari, Knitted Articles, Interior Decoration Articles, Aromatic Candles,
Artificial Jewellery and Flowers, Needle Work Articles, etc. A special Bakery
Stall presented different delicious and mouth-watering items like Golgappas,
Cakes, Pastries, Patties and Biscuits, South Indian dishes like Dosa, Idli,
Sambar, Pickles and Chutneys etc.
Star attractions of the event were the performances of
Manipuri Dance, Malwai Giddha, Bhangra by the individuals and teams of Girls
and Boys. The students enjoyed the event so much that they started dancing out
of joy.
Dr. Zora Singh said that the objective of the event was to entertain the students and to develop their entrepreneur skills as all the stalls were managed by the students of different faculties.
Vice Chancellor Dr.Varinder Singh appreciated the initiative of IEDC and appealed to the students to keep away from all kinds of drugs and proved their talent through this kind of programs. Directors and HoD’S, staff members from different faculties were also present on this occasion.
