Hara Punjab Khara Samaj’ And Cooperative Department Distribute And Plant Saplings On World Herbal Day

Our objective is to cover maximum area of Punjab under trees and to make the common people aware about saving our environment,’ said Ms. Tejinder Kaur, CEO, ‘Hara Punjab Khara Samaj’ an NGO under the ambit of Desh Bhagat Group of Institutes and Pro Chancellor Desh Bhgat University. She was addressing the village folk of District Fatehgarh Sahib at village Navipur Co-operative Society office during the saplings distribution function. ‘Hara Punjab Khara Samaj’ organised this function in collaboration with Cooperative Department, Punjab & Desh Bhagat University on the occasion of World Herbal Day. The Function was inaugurated by planting a tree by Ms. Tejinder Kaur and Chief Guest, Dr. S. K. Batish, Additional Registrar, Co-operative Societies, Punjab. Dr. Batish said that the trees are our best friends and all our food comes from them. Trees saves our environment, conserve water, provide oxygen and improve air quality, So it’s our duty to plant and protect the trees. Hara Punjab Khara Samaj distributed 1000 saplings having medicinal value like Neem, Amla, Jamun and Tulsi etc. Ms. Tejinder Kaur revealed that ‘Hara Punjab Khara Samaj’ will soon sign an MOU with Cooperative Department, Punjab to provide free vocational training to the village youth. Chairman Desh Bhagat Group of Institutes and Chancellor Desh Bhagat University Dr. Zora Singh in his message said, “By planting trees we return to a more natural, less artificial environment and natural harmony is restored even to the urban environment”. University Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Shalini Gupta said that this drive will prove a blessing for the society. While calling upon the people to give full co-operation in this kind of plantation drives, emphasized that all educational and social organizations must involve themselves in such drives to preserve our environment and check the ever increasing pollution problem. Dr. Kulbhushan, (Director, University Faculty of Ayurveda), Naresh Kumar,(Deputy Registrar, Co-Operative Societies, Fatehgarh Sahib), S. Satpal Singh (A.R, Co-Operative Societies, Sirhind ), Sunjeet Singh (President, Co-Operative Society, Jalvehra) and many other dignitaries were present on this occasion
