Desh Bhagat University organised a two days long special programme to
welcome its new students and acquaint them with the facilities and the
academic atmosphere available in this university. Students from
different university faculties participated in this programme. Desh
Bhagat University Chancellor Dr. Zora Singh and Pro Chancellor Tajinder
Kaur inaugurated the function. They welcomed the students and conveyed
their best wishes advising them to move towards their goals by
avoiding bad company and bad habits. While conveying best wishes to the
students, Vice Chancellor Dr. Shalini Gupta motivated the students to
make the best use of the educational and training facilities available
to them in the university to succeed in their careers. During this
programme, the students presented a colourful cultural programme
consisting of Songs, Dances and Skits during this. New and old students
showed their skills by participating in different events and contests.
Modelling competition was also arranged which won applause of everyone. The star attraction of this programme was the performance of famous Punjabi singer Mehtab Virk, who regaled the audience with his famous old and new songs. When he sang a few of his hit songs, the students enjoyed these so much that they started dancing out of joy. On this occasion the prizes were distributed to the winners of the different competitions. The student Abhishek Kalia (Deaf & Dumb) was honoured with Special Trophy. On other categories student Ms. Steffi of B.Ed. was declared ‘Ms. Fresher’ among girls and student named Akwinder Singh of B. Lib. was declared ‘Mr. Fresher’ among boys. Student Manpreet Kaur of MCA (II) was declared ‘Ms. Spark’ and student named Manveer Singh of Art & Craft was declared ‘Mr Spark’. Jaskiran Kaur of M.Sc. (FT) was selected ‘Ms. Graceful’ whereas Sanjeev Singh of B.Sc. (HM) got the title of Mr. Charming. The function was highly enjoyed and appreciated by the students. They said that with this party, they have got a chance of introduction with senior students and also got sufficient knowledge about the facilities available in the university. Among others Registrar Dr. Virinder Singh, Controller Examination Dr. Inderjit Singh Sethi, Director Faculty of Education Dr. Surjit Patheja, Director Faculty of Engineering & Technology Dr. P. S. Cheema also conveyed the students their best wishes for a bright and prosperous future.
