North Zone Inter-Varsity Kho-Kho Tournament (GIRLS) Concludes at Desh Bhagat University

'Kho-Kho is one of the oldest games of our country and is still being played in its sevral states. To promote and revive such traditional games there is a great need of Kho-Kho league like Football and Kabaddi leagues,' said Dr. Zora Singh, Chancellor of the University. He was the Chief Guest on the final day of four-day North Zone Intervarsity Kho-Kho Tournament (Girls) being held at Desh Bhagat University. A total of 20 teams of girls from different universities from all over India participated in the annual tournament of Association of Indian Universities (AIU).



The final matches of the tournament were particularly thrilling and breath-taking and players were struggling hard for even a single point. University Pro-Chancellor Ms. Tajinder Kaur presided over the Prize Distribution function. She appreciated all the teams for their excellent performance. Ms. Paramjit Kaur (Rani Jhansi Awardee) and Dr. D.S. Kalra (Director Sports , Kurukshetra University) were Guest of honours on this ocassion.


University Vice-Chancellor Dr. Virinder Singh appreciated all the players and
teams for excellent sports man spirit and said that such sports events
play a vital role in their all-round development.


The result of the tournament was as under: 

1.      Punjabi University, Patiala (First Position)

2.      Panjab University, Chandigarh (Second Position)

3.     Kurukshetra University , Kurukshetra (Third Position)

4.     H.P. University, Shimla ( Fourth Position)



The Tournament was a source of great education and entertainment for the students and staff of the different universities. All the players and coaches of the teams appreciated the arrangements made by the host university. The members of Kho-Kho official committee sent by AIU were also honoured for their services during the tournament. This event was organised under the supervision of sports coordinator and Coach Nandan Singh.
