Desh Bhagat University Organises Cross Country Race Dedicated To Indian Independence

Desh Bhagat University organised an inter college/faculty cross country Race dedicated to Indian Independence. 188 students including 86 girls and 102 boys from different faculties took part in it with full enthusiasm. The race began early in the morning and was flagged off by University Registrar Dr. Virinder Singh. He encouraged the students to follow sportsman spirit and to be responsible citizens of the country. The race started from the university and finished at Mandi Chowk, Gobindgarh.

 Although, the competition was tough but it was a source of great education and entertainment for the students who showed great interest. In boys category, Faculty of Ayurveda and Research Student Ankush Rahar was the first to cross the finishing line followed by Rajpal (Faculty of Engineering & Technology) who was placed second and Gurpreet (Faculty of Computer Science & Application) stood third. Though for girls, the finishing point distance was less than the boys but they ran with full thrill. Lakhwinder (Faculty of Art & Craft) stood first, Ramandeep Kaur (Faculty of Computer Science & Application) stood second and Lovepreet (Faculty of Engineering & Technology) was declared third in this competition. The winning students were honoured by university Chancellor Dr. Zora Singh, who stated that this race was dedicated to all the martyrs of our country who fought the battle of Independence. He urged the students to remain fit and keep away from drugs & all kind of bad habits so that they may contribute to country’s progress. He also congratulated the staff members for the excellent arrangements of the race. University Pro Chancellor Tejinder Kaur and Vice Chancellor Dr. Shalini Gupta while congratulating the winning players said that the important thing in a game is not to win or lose but to play in the true sportsman spirit. They patted the backs of all the participating students. They further said that Desh Bhagat University is providing all types of facilities for all the major indoor and outdoor games to its students so that they are able to attain the desired heights in the field of sports. Controller of Examination Dr. Inderjeet Singh Sethi, Director Faculty of Engineering and Technology Dr. Pardeep Singh Cheema, Director Academic, Dr. Rajesh Goyal, Director Faculty of Ayurveda and Research Dr. Kulbhushan and other faculty members were also present on the occasion. The tournament was held under the supervision of sports coordinators Bhupinder Singh, and Coach Nandan Singh.
