Desh Bhagat University Organises Cross Country to Say No Drugs

"We have to be much more aware and alert to keep our youth away from drugs and for this cause, different social organisations and educational institutes have to come forward ", said Pro Chancellor Ms. Tajinder Kaur, Desh Bhagat University.  She was flagging off the inter college/faculty Cross Country Race, arranged to create awareness against Drug Abuse. The race began early in the morning. University students from different faculties of university took part in it with full enthusiasm. Pro Chancellor Ms. Tajinder Kaur herself actively participated in the event and ran with the students. Vice-Chancellor Dr. Virinder Singh was also present on the occasion. The race started from the university and finished back to the University.

Although, the competition was tough but it was a source of great awareness and inspiration for the students who evinced great interest. In boy's category, Ram Singh (Faculty of Management) was the first to cross the finishing line followed by Lenni Jay Singh (Faculty of Engineering) who placed second and Lovepreet Singh (Faculty of Management) stood third.




Though for girls, the finishing point distance was less than the boys but they ran with full enthusiaisam. Usha Rani (Faculty of Education) stood first, Mansi (School of Media and Animation) stood second and Navdeep Kaur (Faculty of Agriculture) was declared third in this competition.


The winning students were honoured by university Chancellor Dr. Zora Singh, who stated that objective of this race, was to make maximum people aware against Drugs. He urged the students to remain fit , keep away from drugs and all kind of bad habits so that they may contribute to country’s progress. He appreciated all the students who took part in the race and also congratulated the staff members for the excellent arrangements of the race.


Vice Chancellor Dr. Virinder Singh while congratulating the winning players said that true sportsman spirit is more important than win or lose in a game. He said that Desh Bhagat University is providing all types of facilities for all the major indoor and outdoor games to its students so that they are able to attain the desired heights in the field of sports. The tournament was held under the supervision of sports coordinator and Coach Nandan Singh.
