11th Alumni meet of Government Medical College (GOMCO), Patiala was held at Desh Bhagat University in the best university in Punjab and in top universities in India, Mandi Gobindgarh. MBBS Batch mates of the Year 1975 were all together from India and across the world like U.K, U.S.A., and Canada. Chancellor Desh Bhagat University, Dr. Zora Singh (who is also a pass out of 1975 batch) and Pro-Chancellor Ms. Tajinder Kaur warmly welcomed all Alumni saying that they were waiting for this occasion for so long. They proudly expressed that alumni of Government Medical College, Patiala have made outstanding contributions in their respective specialties. The meet started with a formal introduction and warm-up session, which was witnessed the gathering of around 60 former students. All the Alumni came with their spouses or family members were in a jubilant mood. They got together like a family and shared their good old memories and created new ones. Everyone was in a mood of excitement and happiness and this aroma was seen all over. Dr. Singh informed them about the formation of Desh Bhagat United and Desh Bhagat University. He said that Desh Bhagat University was established in the fondest memory of his late father Sr. Lal Singh Ji, a renowned Freedom Fighter & an associate of Neta Ji Subhash Chandra Bose, who envisioned the need of educated successful & holistic youth in India. We cherish his dreams & try to transform the society. The Alumni were taken around the university campus. Apart from Education, Engineering, Hotel Management, Art and Kraft, Media, Agriculture, and some other departments they also visited Desh Bhagat Global School, where 3-D Theatre was a special attraction. They interacted with the faculty and students and appreciated the authorities for providing state of the art infrastructure to the students. An Exhibition was arranged by UniversityĆ¢€™s Department of Fine Arts and Department of Media. In the evening during a colorful cultural event, the students presented folk songs and dances such as Manipuri, Punjabi, Himachali and many more. Vice- Chancellor Dr. Virinder Singh and other university officials were also present on this occasion. In the end, Chancellor Dr. Zora Singh and Pro-Chancellor Ms. Tajinder Kaur thanked all guests and expressed happiness over the overwhelming response received for the success of this mega event. All the participating members thanked the university, particularly their batch mate Dr. Zora Singh for this initiative and hoped they would be meeting again very soon. The Alumni meet concluded successfully leaving behind everlasting nostalgia.
