National Doctor's Day is observed to honor the legendary
physician and West Bengal's second Chief Minister, Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy whose
birth and death anniversary coincides in the same day. This day pay tribute to
the whole medical profession and to highlight the value of doctors in our
lives. In 1991, the National Doctor's Day was established by the Central
Government to be recognized and observed every year on 1 July to pay honor Dr.
Bidhan Chandra Roy. The theme of National Doctor’s Day 2019 is “Zero tolerance
to violence against doctors and clinical establishment”. Every year the theme
was announced by the Indian Medical Association. The theme will raise awareness
about the violence happening with the doctors across India.
In his speech, Sri Parshant Goyal appreciated the efforts of
Desh Bhagat University. He motivated the students and he also said that it is
necessary to raise awareness about the roles, importance, and responsibilities
of doctors and to promote the medical profession.
University Pro-Chancellor Dr. Tajinder Kaur appreciated the
doctors for their services. She also informed that Medicines were provided free
of cost and some laboratory tests were also done free of cost to needy
patients. While giving more details,
Registrar Dr. Kulbhushan disclosed that during the camp the Physiotherapy
specialist examined more than 200 patients and gave necessary medical
assistance. He also advised the people to make exercise and walking for half an
hour a daily habit. Desh Bhagat Dental College Vice Principal Dr. Sanjeev Soni
said that the dental doctors gave a demonstration to masses how to use a toothbrush
and to do it regularly before going to bed. The team of doctors consisting of
Dr. Baljeet Singh (CMO), Dr. Gulzar Singh (SMO) and Dr. Jyoti Dhami (Medical
Officer) advised the people about proper eating habits; avoid eating unripe and
unhygienic fruits. On this occasion, a colorful cultural event was organized and
students presented folk songs and dances such as Manipuri, Punjabi, Himachali
and many more. Students also acted a play on the theme of National Doctor’s
day.
University Vice-Chancellor Dr. Virinder Singh appreciated
the doctors for their services. The patients were highly pleased and contented
with the treatment and facilities provided by DBU during the medical camp.
