In best university in Punjab and in top universities in India, Desh Bhagat University organised a ‘Chhabeel’ (Sweet Water
Post) on the occasion of Martyrdom Day of Shri Guru Arjan Dev Ji, Fifth Guru of
the Sikhs to create awareness about the martyrdom of our beloved and respected
Guru.
University Chancellor Dr.Zora Singh inaugurated the
‘Chhabeel’. He personally served the sweet water to public and said that Guru
Ji raised his voice strongly against cruelty being done by Mughal emporer
Jahangir. Guru Ji sacrificed himself for the sake of whole society. It is said
that this day is known as the hottest day of the year since the Guru Sahib was
forced to sit on Red hot plate (Loh). Sikh Gurus lead lives and propagate the
message of purity of soul, truthful living and universal brotherhood.
The ‘Chhabeel’ provided respite & relief to the
commuters in the wave of sudden soaring temperature in this area. Large number
of persons visited the ‘Chhabeel’ & quenched their thirst.

that it is an annual
feature when this ‘Chhabeel’ is organised and it is
another way to show our deep respect and to follow the teachings of Guru
Sahiban. University staff members and students were also present
