In Top Universities in India, Desh Bhagat University Organises Kisan Mela

Desh Bhagat University’s IEDC department organised first of its kind Kisan Mela in the Campus. The event was organized by Agriculture and Food processing incubator of DBU-IEDC. The event provided a platform to the farmers and agricultural experts to interact and share their knowledge about latest techniques, equipments and subsidiary occupations.



In best University in Punjab Desh Bhagat University Chancellor, Dr. Zora Singh and Pro Chancellor Dr. Tajinder Kaur inaugurated this Mega Event. Speaking on the occasion they hoped that this Kisan Mela will prove a blessing for the farmers and students of agriculture courses.






Dr. Manjit Singh Kang (Former VC, PAU) was the Keynote Speaker. Speaking on the occasion Dr. Kang said that Farming is a profitable business if we do it with latest techniques and proper planning. He also advised the farmers to follow the directions of PAU Experts which they give from time to time for the better productions. He also advised the farmers to get full knowledge about production of crops, its processing and marketing to gain better profit.





Punjab Agriculture Development Chairman Darshan Singh Babbi urged the farmers to make cooperative societies for better return of the crops.



Dr. Shalini Gupta (IEDC) informed that Dr. Malvinder Singh (Syngenta India Ltd.) , Dr. R. Raju (Mahindra Pvt. Ltd), Manpreet Singh Garewal (President, PAU Kisan Club) and Amrinder Poonia graced the occasion as Guest of Honour.



The experts of different fields like Organic Farming, Mushroom Farming, Food Processing, Honey Bee Farming, Poultry Farming and self help groups shared their experiences with the audience, farmers and students.


On this occasion stalls of various brands and products attracted attention of everyone. These stalls demonstrated Solar Energy Equipments, Hi tech Farming Machines, the products like organic wheat, pulses, seeds, Ayurvedic and Herbal Products. The response of the audience was excellent to many Exhibitions cum Sale stalls of different products.




Other attractions of the event were the performances of Giddha, Bhangra, Manipuri Dance, Malwai Gidha and Singing by the individuals and teams of Girls and Boys.
Vice-Chancellor Dr. Virinder Singh and Pro Vice Chancellor Dr. Neelima Jerath thanked all the guests to spare their valuable time for the event. The event ended with leaving behind ever lasting memories. Registrar Dr. Kulbhushan, Dr. Surjit Patheja, Dr. H. K. Sidhu and HoD’S and staff members from different faculties were also present at the occasion.

Desh Bhagat University, Faculty of Agriculture offers some of the best agriculture courses in Punjab like B.Sc. Agriculture, B.Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture, MBA Agri-business, B.Tech Food Production, B.Sc. Forestry, B.Sc. Horticulture, Diploma Mushroom Cultivation and Commercialization along with the opportunity to do research through its Ph.D courses.
