Desh Bhagat University Department of Airlines
Tourism and Hospitality Management celebrated World Tourism Day in a
special manner. In this two day long programme, students of ATHM classes
participated with full enthusiasm. As part of this programme, students
were taken on a special visit to the city beautiful Chandigarh. During
this visit, they spread the message of 'Atithi Devo Bhava' (Guest is
god), Respect Tourists and Promote Tourism at several famous point of
the city. At the same time, they undertook a drive to create awareness
regarding cleanliness, universal brotherhood and maintenance of our
historical monuments, which are the main spots of attraction for
tourists in India. Chancellor of Desh Bhagat University, Dr. Zora Singh
and Pro Chancellor Tejinder Kaur, appreciated the move to create
awareness about keeping our historical monuments and tourist spots neat
and clean. They said that this is the best way to show our respect for
history and exhibit 'Incredible! India' in the true sense. On the
second day, students participated in various events like Making Models
of Monuments, Collage Making, Face Painting, Flower Arrangements, Chart
Making, Video Presentation, Paper Presentation, Power Point Presentation
(PPT) and Quiz Competition etc. Desh Bhagat University Vice Chancellor,
Dr. Shalini Gupta while presiding over the prize distribution function
addressed the students and enlightened them about various aspects of
Tourism and importance of World Tourism Day. She emphasized that the
deep rooted relationship between tourism and our cultural assets should
be fully recognized and highlighted. Registrar Dr. Virinder Singh was
also present on this occasion. Both of them blessed the students and
gave away prizes to the winners of the competitions. Director Faculty of
Hotel Management and Tourism Amit Sachdeva appreciated the performance
of the students hoping that they will do their best to promote tourism
in India. In Monument Model making, First Prizes were given to
Shavanpreet Kaur for Statue of Liberty and to Harwinder Kaur for Taj
Mahal, while Second Prizes were given to Alisha for Char Minar and to
Kulwinder Kaur for Lotus Temple. In Collage making, Gurpreet Kaur got
First and Karishma Gupta got Second prize. In Chart making, Kulwinder
Singh got First and Karishma Gupta got second prize. In Video
Presentation, Tanu Rani got First Prize, while Himanshu and Jobanjeet
Singh got Second Prize. In Power Point Presentation (PPT), International
students Tsephisco (from Republic of Lesotho) won First Prize and
Roshish (from Nepal) won Second Prize. In Rangoli, Amandeep Kaur got
First Prize and Karishma got Second Prize. All the students who were in a
jolly mood said that with this programe, they have got a chance to know
about so many new things and gained a lot of fresh knowledge.
