Desh Bhagat University celebrated its Founder's Day with great zeal and 
fervour. Sh. Madan Mohan Mittal (Cabinet Minister, Industry & 
Commerce, Technical Education & Industrial Training, Punjab) was the
 Chief Guest, who also unveiled the statue of Sr. Lal Singh Ji, a famous
 freedom fighter and a close associate of Neta Ji Subhash Chander Bose, 
in whose sacred memory Desh Bhagat Group of Institutes and Desh Bhagat 
University have been established.    At the very outset, Sh. Mittal 
felicitated the audience on the birth anniversary of Baba Ravidass Ji 
who was a great saint and social reformer of India. He appreciated the 
role being played by Desh Bhagat educational institutions in providing 
professional and technical education in the state. He inspired the 
students to work harder and to contribute in the development of our 
country and society. Sh. R.K. Verma (Secretary, Dept. of Technical 
Education & Industrial Training, Punjab) was the Guest of Honour. 
Speaking on the occasion, Mr.Verma highlighted the importance of 
professional and technical education in the fast changing global 
scenario.    Welcoming the Chief Guest and other guests, Chancellor of 
the Desh Bhagat University, Dr. Zora Singh said that Desh Bhagat 
University comprises more than 16 University Schools which are providing
 higher education in the streams of Law, Engineering, Agriculture, Hotel
 Management, Nursing, Ayurveda, Education, Commerce, Management, 
Computer Sciences etc.    It is worth mentioning that Founder's Day is 
the birthday of the Chancellor of Desh Bhagat University and Chairman of
 Desh Bhagat Group of Institutes, Dr. Zora Singh. The day was celebrated
 felicitating Dr. Singh and wishing him a happy, healthy and long life. 
Besides all the members of the teaching and non teaching staff, the 
function was graced by all the university officials.    Pro Vice 
Chancellor of Desh Bhagat University, Dr. Shalini Gupta said that the 
university focused on providing value based education to the students 
for being responsible citizens and making them self-reliant by imparting
 them technical, vocational and professional education. A special 
industry-academia fete was organised on the occasion by students of 
different states representing their respective cultures which looked 
like mini-India. Vice Chancellor of the University, Dr. S.S. Chahal also
 sent a message of felicitations and good wishes to Dr. Zora Singh. He 
expressed the confidence that very soon the university will have its 
place among the top most universities of the world. The Pro Chancellor 
of the university Mrs. Tajinder Kaur thanked all the guests.    The 
occasion was marked a colourful cultural programme. Star attraction of 
the function was Famous singer Jasbir Jassi, who regaled the audience 
with his famous old and new songs. The programme was highly appreciated 
and enjoyed by all present.
